Oh, he's heard of her. Yet another alchemist candidate for a human sacrifice. As usual, he snuck up on her. "What are you doing?"

Solf considers the menu. The place is nearly empty, most of the soldiers leaving for the day to go home or drink. A few of the most popular items are gone, but he doesn't care. After years of prison slop, anything by a competent baker is something he's desperate for. Croissants, brownies, a cupcake - he buys them all, graciously thanking the woman at the counter and turning to find the person he's actually looking for.

He puts down his purchased goods without preamble and smiles pleasantly. "Miss Hahn. I expected I might find you here." Her sister works here. Possible leverage, perhaps. Not that he should need any: Scar is a danger to her as much as she is to him. He puts out a hand, the sun symbol tattooed on his palm clearly obvious. "I'm Solf Kimblee."

The situation was not as black and white as the members of the court desperately tried to make it seem.

Nothing over the last nearly twenty-five years were as black and white as they seemed, and the members of the court didn’t even remember half of those years (though Zelda still counted them considering she remembered them). Finding an infant abandoned in the woods was certainly a gray area (if you wanted to put things simply).

But acknowledging things that were complicated did not help resolve the situation. There was still a magical child with abilities beyond their comprehension that was running around Hyrule (an exaggeration considering she was being looked after). 

Still though, the Princess of Hyrule cannot help the sigh that escapes her lips as she pressed gloved fingers against her temples, massaging the area as she gave herself a moment to think. “Yes, yes, I know…and I cannot fault you for that. I think anyone else in your position would have done the same if they found a baby all alone in the woods. No child of that age would survive on their own, much less in that area,” she confessed, shaking her head before she finally opened her eyes to look at Aurora. 

“You did your best with the cards you were dealt. But something will need to be done about the girl before her powers grow beyond her control and she hurts someone. She will need to be trained properly.”

“ the windborne alchemist-? ” atlas had heard the title in passing- a talented alchemist, but not one who had been seen on the front lines to face the hero of creta- and maybe that was for the best. she was younger than he’d assumed, with gentle features- save her eyes; focused, intelligent, the eyes of a soldier who still held tight to their dreams and their honor. 

a part of him was rather jealous. the more logical part, the kind part, hoped she would keep that honor and that dream, whatever it happened to be-  better ambition than the sorrow of pale eyes and the ghosts on one’s back.
