Medusa is the theme of a wonderful group show as the result of a very fruitful collaboration of @galeriedaend and Galerie Jonathan F Kugel where both galleries put together their artists to create a dialogue between their works. It was very moving to see how the wonderful spiritual works of artists like my beloved friend Satoshi Saikusa dialogued with the work of @alanmacdonaldart or the stunning glass sculpture of @markusakessonvisual that reminded me of a portrait of Camille Claudel created by Auguste Rodin. The Medusa by @smitcarolein was scary and found an echo in the work of @vivianvanblerk1 . And of course, there was a fun work by Nieto! But what moved me most is when my dear Quynh reminded me that the Medusa is actually the symbol of the gallery, chosen by Satoshi when they both created the gallery. Quynh Saikusa has an eye for optical theory, and a magical way of curating her Wunderkammerlike cabinet show each year. She gifted us with a new version of Asile in Wonderland today. @satoshi.saikusa is quite famous in the glossy world of fashion and celebrities photography. But to me, from now on she should be even more famous for the deep power of his artwork. I have finally made it to to see his new show "Utakata" at @galeriedaend yesterday night. To me, two artworks described more then everything this ephemeral moment, the passage of time and man as a part of the universe . I loved the installation of the scales, on one side a christal globe, representing both the universe and the soul. On the other, piled up pieces of glass, representing money, topped with thorns, a symbol of our desires. When one of the glass pieces is put away, the scales loose balance, but after a while finally get it back. The time we need to accept in our life to let if find it's balance . And another installation, made of wood, glass and a stone, that is not touched, but almost, is based upon a Buddhist thought "We have never met. But we have never left each other" I thought about the quantum entanglement where two particles are inextricably linked, regardless how far apart they are from each other. And finally, I think this speaks about Love (with a capital letter). Go and discover it until December 21st day of the winter solstice. Yesterday was a special sunday in Paris: many galleries followed the event "Un dimanche à la galerie" and had their opening. I was able to do the private view of @galeriedaend last week already. Every year, they celebrate the return from summer break with a great Wunderkammer-like cabinet show. This year, Quynh Saikusa, the owner, has done the best cabinet show ever: intriguing and sexy, the artists works seemed to respond to each other. My special darlings were @satoshisaikusa with his beautiful selfportraits of parts of his head painted in black, of course @kimkototamalune with an incredible glasssculpture representing the heart of a fetus, my darling @tolmachevn with his naughty watercolour etches, the wonderful @sarahjerome with an installation of a ceramic garden, and to crown it all: How to the art scene rascal with several great video art pieces : the figure of his muse Marcel went ghostlike over and inside the artworks of the other artists, it is absolutely brilliant! And so have to give a special mention to an artist very dear to me: @marioncatusse who works with such delicate material as minerals, gold, broken glass. Her tiny sculptures were indeed Milos favorites. For him, it was a hen with dinosaurs. In the end he didn't want to leave = kids love art 😉! A great show to be discovered under any circumstances!
