Ender: Uh...h-hi...I-I've been trying to make an ask blog and was hoping if you could...help me learn what I need to know? i-it's ok if you don't have any advice...

[ I’ve been doing ask blogs for a few years now and in a few different fandoms so I have a moderate amount of advice.

1, Have an ask-specific blog. If you reblog a bunch of things not relevant to your blog and characters, people might not realize you're an ask blog. If you want to reblog things I would recommend doing it on your personal or side account.

2, Have a reference of your character. Have a tab or page set aside for your character to describe them. For example, my sona has their own reference page here. Even having a written description of how your character looks is a good idea if you arn’t the type of person who draws.

3, Interact with the community. Make sure you are sending out asks to people on and off anon. The community can die if people don’t send others asks and, as a result, you won't get any asks either. Making connections with people and becoming friends, in my opinion, is also a big bonus to ask blog communities. This is why I try to do a weekly ask call to make sure everyone who needs asks can get them.

The rest of these are optional but highly recommended.

4, Have your ask blog be your main blog. It alerts people when you follow, allows you to send direct asks, and like their posts so you can be found easier. I use two different browsers for my main and ask blog, so I’m always logged into both.

5, Have your username say ‘ask’, have the icon be of your characters, and or have the ask mail in your icon to symbolize you are an ask blog. The rule of thumb is if you have 1 character it says 1+, 2 character is says 2+, so on and so forth.

6, Use the ‘ask blog’ tag when posting. I try to surf through it every so often to find new blogs and since this blog is a minecraft ask blog, I surf the ‘minecraft ask blog’ tag more often than not.

7, This is a personal preference but have an ask hint page. I started to do this in the Pokemon community. It helps people send asks when they might not know what to send and helps eliminate confusion. In addition, it helps people see what has and has not been asked about yet. This helps people who may be shy or nervous to send asks.

Overall if anyone is starting out in the community I am more than willing to help. Having an ask blog helped my art and character development immensely all while being a lot of fun. Anyone is free to message me if they need help, asks, or even just an outside opinion. ]
