Midnight Snack
A Real Fake Animals Installation, 2023
MIDNIGHT SNACK, a Real Fake Animals installation came down a bit ago. I figured it's time I actually post my groceries from the show!
The installation was at the 301 Frame Gallery in Beverly MA. What a fantastic opportunity to work with so many neat friends/artists in a place I find to be a home away from home. The installation was for the two windows are the first two images there, one side a blanket wall of puppet heads, and the other a creature being caught getting a silly snack.
I obsessively assisted in the craft of the character, made lots of grocery items (not all are pictured), and participated in other late-night shenanigans. These are my favorite items that I made.
All are made from felt, embroidery floss, lots of fabric glue, some bristol board, and plastic plates.
Official RFA website and other info coming soon, thanks for the support!
Pulse - Installation by Markus Kison
“Pulse is a live-visualization of recent emotional expressions, written on private weblogs hosted at wordpress.com. Weblog entries are compared to a list of emotions, which refers to Robert Plutchik’s seminal book Psychoevolutionary Theory of Emotion published in 1980. Plutchik describes eight basic human emotions in his book: joy, trust, fear, surprise, sadness, disgust, anger, and anticipation. He developed a diagram in which these eight emotions, together with their weakened and amplified counterparts, form a three dimensional cone, consisting of 24 areas. The cone is the basic form of pulse, which can enlarge in the 24 directions of the different emotions. Each time an emotion tag, or a synonym of it, is found in a recent blog entry, the shape-shifting object transforms itself in such a way that the new volume represents a piece of the overall current emotional condition of surfers on the Internet.
