Hank O'Neal, XCIA, pursued his artistic calling which was to photograph and document the street art of New York, as well as other places, like Los Angeles, for the last four decades.
One can never be certain whether street art will remain on the streets after it has been made, or whether it will be torn down, painted over or somehow erased. But thanks to Hank O'Neal, the history of street art can be experienced even if the art itself has disappeared and the movements around this art scene can be appreciated by all.
Hank O'Neal was encouraged to pursue this project by friend and mentor Bernice Abbott, as well as, his influence of Walker Evans.
On April 28th, there will be an exhibition of Hank O'Neal's photographs, which will be held at Gallery Two, and the artist will give a talk at 4:00 pm at the gallery. You can also attend the opening reception and book launch between the hours of 2-5pm, and the work will be exhibited till May 12th.
