Photo from the Gallery <3
Just dropped off Mr pug to a local gallery. Always grateful for opportunities to display my work
So I learned something a while back that I’m surprised I didn’t learn earlier:
Pyrography fades considerably in even bright indoor lighting: specifically, gallery lighting. Doesn’t even need to be sunlight, I guess any intense sunlight within the span of a year will drastically lighten the burned in marks.
So this piece suffered after its time on display, and it was only today that I set about trying to remedy it by going back in and darkening the tones and deepening the outlines. The final resting place of this piece will have to be a more dimly lit wall or corner until I can think of some good archival method that won’t crack or discolor over time.
The top of the piece has yet to be touched; you can see the contrast with where I’ve been working in the middle/bottom.
New Print Series
We finally made it!
The new picture series about that moment you sneak into that quiet freight train bedroom.
Analog pictures, mounted and wooden framed. Check out at https://korrosivkollektiv.bigcartel.com for more details.
i did this piece a while ago for a friend’s first solo-curated gallery so i think it’s okay to post :O!!! it’s a big one. the theme was “quiet moments” and i wanted to depict the wonder you feel as a child when it comes to exploration and the unknown at one of the quietest times of day (5 am)
The last piece to my set for the Gallery Nucleus Line Weight V show

This was taken by a gallery my work was shown in and I never got over how cool it was.
Stimming 2021
Mixed media on paper
Everything’s getting wrapped up here nicely! Had two whole days of nonstop prep work (framing, matcutting, etc) which was interrupted only to go to doctors appointments. The prints showed up at the last minute before I had to leave, so that had me immensely relieved that I could bring them safely inside.
Speaking of the prints, they turned out great! (The lighting is terrible in these photos, oof.) Some prints are still a bit darker than I’d like, but on the whole it’s no issue. Very pleased with how close the owl duplicate print came to the original. Which is which?
Also threw together a plein air/sketchbook! I messed some things up in the construction process, but now I know how I want to do things next time. Pretty pleased regardless since it’s been 10+ years since I’d done any bookbinding.
Also a blast from the past, I’d found my old business cards from 10 years ago. (The new ones have the warblers!)
Everything heads down to the gallery space in a matter of hours, aaaaaa!
