Old art of Gamble-ler circa 2012– very cute. The second one is the first picture of him ever. Makes me want to draw him again. Important distinguishing features that came up over time are that he always wears a double-breasted peacoat with a contrasting color, round sunglasses and bowler hat, and there’s a scar on his face from when he was cut by Pyro-ler.

Hey there! This blog has sat empty for a while because I did not know what to do with it and frankly I forgot the email associated with it. But this is indeed the OG Gamble-ler mod— Rowan. That’s not what I was called back then but people change and oops I’m a trans man. My main blog is @castlevain but you can also find me posting memes @catboy . Anyway, I wanted to put at least one post up in remembrance of this character just for fun. I regret deleting all my posts, but I left this fandom because I was deeply unhappy with how some of the people I knew had been treating me. These weren’t just blogs that I RPed with sometimes, but people I went to cons with and deeply cared about as people. It’s a shame, but it is what it is and I know I made the right choice by getting out of that situation.

Gamble-ler, aka Luca Gambino, is a character I cherish to this day and I have some friends still that come from these days. Shoutout to Zach, even though we didn’t interact much until Thneedville High.

His theming was very mid-century, as a high-roller gambler who was addicted to risk to the point that it alienated the love of his life and he decided to fill the void with vice. Looking back on my personal tag, I see him being very playful and easygoing with other characters and it looks like it was fun. At his prime, I don’t remember how many followers I had, but it was plenty. I’m a little sore I’m not on the wiki, but what can you do… It’s enough that some people who used to be in the fandom that I run into in the wild have heard of him. That is strange enough.

Feel free to reach out to my main tumblr if you have happy memories of us RPing. I still write to this day. Mostly Vampire the Masquerade things. And I’d love to hear from you. Sure, these days were sort of cringey, but I can’t deny I enjoyed myself immensely.

I’ll be reblogging some of the old posts I can find that contain art, just for safekeeping, for the memories.

11/18/22 update: Because of the imminent demise of Twitter, I have seen some people abuzz about potentially returning to this fandom. It sounds fun to give it a shot, and I might do so. It’s been ten years! I can’t even believe that. But this is a special piece of my heart that I never fully gave up.

Broadway Once-ler Time-line

You know, I realized some of Broady's newer followers weren't around for his earlier days. So I decided to try and put together a time line of the main plot events in Broady's life:

1. Broady is lost. Simple as that. Broadway wanders into the world of tumblr, and because he has the worst sense of direction ever, he wanders around talking to people, asking for directions, and that is how he meets most of his friends.

2. Broadway meets Pyro, another Once-ler with something not quite right about him. The land is all burned down, but Broady doesn't put two and two together and accepts when Pyro asks Broadway after their first  meeting to move in with him out of loneliness.

3. Their friendship blooms into something more than just friendship...even though Broadway knows very well that Pyro is cheating on him at every turn with multiple people. He tries to ignore it.

4. A Magic Anon turns Broadway into his own douche Greed-ler form, in which he almost cheats on Pyro with his dear friend Dev.

5. The anon wears off, hence why the possible sex suddenly stopped, he went to tell Pyro, apologized profusely, nearly got beaten and cut, and was actually about to let it happen. Broadway's self-worth was so low at that point that he was willing to pretend he was someone else to keep Pyro around. 

6. Pyro kills himself, and then somehow magically returns. Dev comes to take him to Hell, Broadway is prepared to follow him down there  by any means  possible.  Dev decides not to take Pyro.

7. Pyro disappears, Oncie/Forgotten Beanpole appears. They are the same person. Broadway figures this out and clings to Oncie. 

8. Meanwhile some of the stuff with Gamble happens here.

9. Enter Greed. (<3)

10. Greed and Broadway actually fight over Oncie. Pyro/Oncie officially breaks up with Broadway, who is then devastated.

11. Oncie/Pyro disappears.

12. Broadway tries to make up with Greed by any means necessary because he realizes how much he adores him as a friend and doesn't want to loose him.

(13. Broadway saves Gamble from committing suicide, which was then pronounced Not-Canon.)

14. Broadway and Greed get together.

15.Most of Broadway's 'family' starts disappearing as Broadway finds Theo being his father figure.

16. Music Dies.

17. Broadway winds up in a coma after a Trickster Anon, in which Tel and Greed are the only two to visit and stay by his side. Theo visits once.

18. Theo leaves for good.

19. Broadway proposes to Greed and  then is turned down for it being 'too soon'. Broadway (very sadly) accepts and moves on with their relationship. 

20. Broadway and Greed in a current thread are  on a special 6-month anniversary date at the aquarium.

And that's Broadway's time-line in a non-detailed nut-shell. Of course he has many more friends that I could mention, but that would make this  post soooo much longer.

ooc: So I Feel like people are getting very confused here

(When it comes to the topic of Gamble and Broady. So I've decided to make you a list of the things that happened, didn't happen but are still implied, and DID happen, but where then later said by the other mod to not be Canon.

So lalala, they met. Broady moved in with Gamble for a short time because it was his first time being  in New York. He didn't know anyone, and they just hit it off.

They did some dancing. They cooked together. Lots of stuff planned that never fell through because the other mod got busy, then I also got busy, and crap happens. You know? Basically what was implied: They grew really close. Gamble fell for  Broady and then decided to kick him out because of it. Broady had no idea what was going on. He misses out on his very first chance to be on stage on Broadway.

So a lot of people don't realize, Broady has actually already been so very close to achieving his goal, and it  was basically yanked out from under him. Planned Angst.

And now for what was deemed NOT canon. Remember that whole thread of Broady helping Gamble after Gamble tried to commit suicide? Where they had that heart to heart talk and Gamble admitted he'd fallen for Broady?

Yeah that never happened.

Someone else came back, and that entire rp was tossed out the window. 

So if you can, erase that from  your memories, guys.

Here and there, there where slight mentioning of Gamble. Like at Christmas, when he brought Broady some masks. Broady was a nubcat at the time. So he just sat on the box. There  was also the Trickster M!A where Broady went to bother the crap out of Gamble. Those things ARE canon.

Otherwise, there has been no actual interaction between the two. 

Until a couple of days ago, when Gamble asked Broady to the coffee shop to talk about things. Broady agreed. The other Mod doesn't want to do it anymore.

Hence the post I wrote this morning about Broady getting fed up and leaving.

The way he sees things, a friend  that was supposed to be close kicked him out.

I had to piece things back together from the Suicide thread because THAT WAS ON BROADY'S BLOG AND EVERYTHING THAT GETS POSTED HERE IS CANON. So then I had to basically erase most of it from Broady's mind and  make it look like he went to try and be friends again, and got booted out a second time.

Meaning that Gamble not showing up at the coffee shop is his 'third strike'.

Broadway's done.

There. Everyone understand all the stuff that happened and didn't happen?

I sure hope so.

And one last thing, I'll never pop and tell all of you that something that happened here on Broady's blog suddenly isn't Canon.

If it's not Canon, it's not on tumblr. That is what Skype rps are for.

I don't do AUs on this blog either. Those are either on Skype, or on a separate account, like  the Weehawken and WAO.

I don't want to confuse any of you, which was the point of making this post in the first place, so that everyone can fully understand what's going on with this character and the things  he's feeling right now, as well as why he's reacting the way he is to things.)

Thanks for letting me know we where done

The actor stared at the still-full cup of coffee in front of him. 

Gamble never showed up.

In all honesty, he didn't know why he expected the man to. Something or someone whom he considered more important probably showed up to help the man indulge in his habits. 

The actor tapped the side  of the table, waiting for just a little longer before he moved from the table. The coffee sat there, forgotten; untouched. 

It didn't matter. At least, it shouldn't have mattered. 

Broadway was done with all of this. He was done with being a doormat. He was done with doing his best for people only to be thrown aside in the end. Deep down he knew, if he'd given Gamble another chance, the exact same thing would have happened again. 

He'd only been planning on listening to what the other had to say, and look what happened. The older  man was a no-show. 

The bell above the door jingled as he stepped out, heading off to face another day.
