What kind of food do you eat at work? And is there a cantina there? With cantina music.... :)
My current studio provides a relatively good and reasonably healthy selection of food. We are usually on our own for lunch (unless we are crunching, in which case food is ordered for us), but they (along with quite a few other studios) provide breakfast. The quality of the breakfast varies with the studio (those that provide it usually have some sort of all-you-can-eat breakfast cereals and an assortment of milk). My current studio provides donuts and breakfast tacos on Fridays, bagels on Thursdays, fresh popcorn with candy and toppings on Wednesdays, and fresh fruits and baked goods from Whole Foods on work days. Most of the time, studios will also have some sort of monthly treat… birthday cake, pizza party, ice cream social, etc.
At one of the Call of Duty studios where I used to work, they would provide general snacks and drinks. They had a soda fountain and a weekly truck from Costco to bring us snacks like chips, jerky, trail mix, crackers, fruit, and sandwich materials (cold cuts, bread, condiments). They also did the monthly sweets/snacks, and a monthly In n Out Burger truck visit with complimentary burgers. The truck provided the burgers as you liked them but never had any fries, so one of my coworkers and I would go to the local McDonald’s and buy fries. The other devs made fun of us for coming back with McDonald’s bags at first, but then we’d open them up and start eating the fries with our burgers and the jeers rapidly turned to cries of envy.
Sadly, there is no cantina or cantina music here. We have a game lounge with foosball, a billiards table, and a multi-game arcade cabinet instead. We also have a lovely board game area where we can play tabletop or card games. It’s not quite as eyecatching as the ball pit in the meeting room at EA Sports though. That one’s just wacky.
