The four major pro sports leagues and the NCAAthink so, and have argued for years that expanding legal betting will lead to more game fixing. The pro leagues have sought, unsuccessfully so far, a cut of state gambling revenues to increase…

What Contributed to That A Wild Finish on Thursday Night Football?
Is the NFL rigged? Some people said so after last week’s Thursday Night Football game.

LG Twins release two pitchers accused of game-fixing
Anything that undermines a sports fan's confidence in what's happening on the field threatens the future viability of that sport. That's why the Korea Baseball Organization must move decisively to crack down on instances of game-fixing. In the latest development of this growing scandal, the LG Twins have released pitchers Kim Seong-hyun and Park Hyun-jun, who are being investigated by Daegu prosecutors for allegedly taking payoffs from a gambling broker last season in exchange for deliberately walking batters in the first inning, the Korea Herald reports. If the two men are found guilty of the charges, they'll be banned from the KBO for life.
As S. Korea cracks down on game-fixing, Daegu prosecutors arrest LG Twins pitcher
The Daegu District Prosecutors' Office arrested LG Twins pitcher Kim Sung-hyun on Tuesday for allegedly receiving payoffs to fix games, the Korea Herald reports. It's the latest arrest in the deeply troubling game-fixing scandal that threatens to undermine public confidence in the integrity of South Korean professional sports. The Los Angeles Times says that the scandal has touched pro leagues for baseball, soccer, basketball, volleyball and even motorboat racing. Last week, the South Korean government announced a sweeping crackdown on game-fixing and a doubling of the minimum annual salary paid to all professional athletes in an urgent effort to address the "state of emergency that threatens to shake the foundation of sports," Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Choe Kwang-shik said last week, according to the New York Times.
