I really love this song
REAL LIFE QUOTES
A silence to the night gave off a little wind. A bird made a sound, off with its life. It’s the absolute silence. No thoughts of death are allowed. Those who diverge on this path were put to death, or worse: sent to the UnderPalace.
MAD WORLD ~ Part 1: Christine
MAD WORLD SUMMARY
What happens when death changes from a permanent state into a blessing? How would you react when suddenly your life is uprooted, destroyed and your roommate tries to claw your brains out? What would anyone do when you go from simply living your life to having to fight for it?

PART 1 - CHRISTINE
“So, are you bringing anyone to the staff party next weekend?”
Christine picks up her mug of fresh coffee and takes a sip while regarding Doctor McCoy with an amused eyebrow raised. “Are you?” She challenges in return, effectively avoiding the subject that makes her heart twinge.
He doesn’t know about Maddy – although there’s nothing to know, not anymore – and if it’s up to Christine, he never will.
She’s worked as a head nurse at Yorktown Memorial for a few years now and while she gets along well enough with most others on the floor, there is no-one with who she shares the same working relationship as she does with Leonard McCoy, one of the hospital’s best trauma surgeons.
Perhaps it’s the fact they have the same work ethic. Or the fact they seem to share the same kind of humor.
Either way, there is an understanding between the two of them that makes them a good team – one of the best. But that doesn’t mean she tries to keep her private life private.
Leonard grimaces at the question before taking a long sip of his own coffee. “Dropped off the divorce papers to Joss two days ago.”
It’s an obvious no to that question and, unlike most people, Leonard doesn’t say it because he wants to receive pity. A hand on his shoulder, some words about his soon-to-be-ex-wife’s loss.
He’s not out to get that, Christine knows. He just states it like the fact it is, expecting nothing in return.
Which is good, because he wouldn’t have gotten pity anyway. At least not from her.
Instead, she jokes: “Ah, living vicariously through me, then?”
“Don’t you know it.” The corner of Leonard’s mouth curls up a bit into a grin. Then, he shrugs. “I’ll go by myself, it’s not like I’ll have no-one to talk to without a partner.”
Christine chuckles. “So the question was not a prelude to asking me out, Doctor?”
Leonard nearly chokes on his coffee. “Christ, take that image from my head,” he groans and rubs his forehead.
“Should I take offence?”
Leonard huffs and raises an eyebrow at Christine. “You’re my best nurse Chris, and you know it. But if we were to ever go on a date one of us is going to end up in the OR.”
“The morgue, you mean.” She snorts.
Leonard laughs. “Well at least we agree on that.”
---
Later, after a long shift and coming home to an empty apartment Christine finds herself restless.
The conversation with Leonard unintentionally taking off the lid of a box full of emotions Christine’s been trying hard to forget.
Coming home one day to an empty apartment. No bright red coat on the coat rack, no more black sneakers next to the front door, no more books lying around. No more Maddy. A note on the ‘fridge – I’m sorry – and Whatsapp messages, texts and calls all gone unanswered – the number you have called has been disconnected.
It’s hard, she thinks, to move on when you don’t have closure.
One moment she’d been living with her girlfriend of six months and the next it’s like it never even happened except for the black hole in her heart.
Standing in the hallway of the apartment, Christine decides that tonight she just can’t be there. Alone. In an apartment full of memories.
She grabs her phone and hesitates for a moment.
In moments like this, there’s very few friends she feels she can reach out to. Friends that understand, that will let her vent and drink and drink with her without empty words of comfort everyone knows won’t help anyway.
In the end, she knows there’s only one person she’d want at her side right now.
She texts Anna.
Know you’re busy but damn, I could use a drink
It’s as if Anna had been waiting, has read Christine’s mind all the way from the other side of the city. My place, half an hour. I’ll get us some good whiskey and order pizzas
Christine smiles at the message and closes her eyes.
Everything will be fine, she tells herself. After all, right now things can only get better.
Note: that’s it, folks! The end of part 1 of Mad World. We’ve now seen what everyone’s lives are like. Pretty normal, right? Mundane lives with every-day problems... let’s see what happens in part 2.

PART 1 - SCOTTY
“You getting that delivery next week, right?” Scotty asks, leaning his elbows on the counter.
Dark eyes look up at Scotty over the rim of a pair of glasses, and he gets an amused smile in return for his question from Alex, who is inputting the comic shop’s order at the counter. “I am.”
Scotty raises a finger. “And you know – ”
“I know.” Alex interrupts, rolling her eyes. She turns the screen so Scotty can see and points her finger to one of the lines. “There, that’s yours.”
“You’re the best, lassie.” He grins.
Alex laughs, the sound joyful yet loud in the otherwise empty shop. “Don’t I know it.”
“And so modest,”
Alex smirks proudly at him before she waves a hand at the screen. “Always thought you were more of a Marvel guy.”
“I am. Keenser ain’t.” Scotty shrugs, thinking back to the discussions he’s had with Keenser about which was better and why. “Asked me to bring him some new issues.”
Alex raises an eyebrow and leans against the counter, asking: “He still hasn’t got his post box sorted?”
“Don’t think he will. He’s taken the lumberjack thing a bit too serious if ya ask me.” Scotty shrugs.
Four months ago during an intense game of Overwatch Keenser had casually mentioned moving out of the two-bedroom flat he shared with Scotty and into a cabin in the woods.
It had resulted in Scotty being killed, the controller being dropped and the Scotsman turning to his friend with a frown. “What the fuck?”
“You heard me,” Keenser pointed out.
“But…” Scotty sputtered, throwing his hands in the air. “Moving out?”
Keenser rolled his eyes. “Dude, I’m sick ‘n tired of the city.”
“So you move to the middle of nowhere?” Scotty asked, small curl of betrayal in his gut at the thought of his best friend moving away. “Into a cabin in the woods? We’ve seen that movie, ya know.”
Keenser had laughed, shrugged and said: “I’ve always wanted to be a lumberjack.”
Keenser was eccentric at the best of times and really, Scotty shouldn’t have been surprised when his friend had actually followed through on his words.
He looks at Alex again and shrugs. “At least I got a place to visit out of the city.”
Alex huffs. “That, or you’ve been demoted to mail man.”
