Life’s Thread | Week 1 | Prologue
‘Preserved eternal in the sky, Stories told when stars align. Choices made others decry, Yet intentions were to be benign. Plans are foiled by cosmic design. Divine shears cut the knot, And to a tragic fate they resign. Better than to stand for naught.’
Swirling within your vision is the grandiose, abysmal vortex of space. Stars twinkle endlessly above. This is beyond the night sky you’re used to. Dark and distant are a far cry from the myriad of colors before you. It feels as though you’ve been plunged straight into a satellite image.
And then you remember.
For some of you, you jerk awake. For others, you wake from a daze. Regardless of how you wake up, you all find yourselves in a similar predicament. There’s a vivid recollection of your moments prior from your awakening. Perhaps that was a dream of some sort. You’re conscious after all. You seem to be alive. However, you don’t recall falling asleep outdoors, much less in a--
A casket?
Yes, you’re somehow lying in a casket filled to the brim with paper stars. Sitting up and reassessing yourself, you find several changes to yourself.
Your clothing have been replaced with traditional black attire, common in funeral garb. In addition to that, your usual possessions have been stripped bare, and you can only find a pass case within your possession. Well, that and whatever is pressed against your face. Judging by its shape, it’s a smooth mask. You can see and breathe easily through it, but no matter how much force you put into removing it, it won’t budge.
This oddity doesn’t happen to only you at least. Eleven others mimic your situation. As such, a total of twelve caskets circle around a marble fountain. Everything’s a confusing mess of questions.
The moment you attempt to ask about it, a soft voice interrupts you.
“Eh, eh? You’re all awake already?”

Gamestart Asia 2017!
Hello Quotakus!
About a month or two ago we headed down to Gamestart Asia 2017 to check out the latest indie and AAA games throughout SEA!
Playstation was there with a nifty driving simulation booth, rigged with a steering wheel and pedals! We tried it out and it was pretty cool! (Heheh, I won first place~ against the bots but STILL)
There were quite a number of indie game developers there as well, one of which was Stifled! It’s a VR game that cleverly uses sound and voice to create a spooky atmosphere that’ll linger in your mind even after you finish playing their demo. I volunteered Admin Baka as tribute because yea, scary games like these are a no-no for me. u__u
We got to watch her play though and it’s definitely a game to look out for! I also think the tagline for the game is smart, heh.
CAT QUEST! Another game that caught our eye! Imagine an RPG world where you’re the hero helping others in need... only, this time, everyone is a cat! Set off on meowny catventures in an open world RPG, available on mobile, Playstation, and PC!
We got to play a demo and this game is really easy to pick up for all ages! Also, come on, the art is too cute!
We also tried a few of Toge Production’s games, namely Ultra Space Battle Brawl and Magic Cat! Ultra Space Battle is a 1v1 combat game with absolutely crazy characters and skills, hah! My character had a fly swatter for a weapon and I was announcing that I’m swatting away the pests in my life (eg. my opponent, haha).
This is so much fun and laughter-inducing! Would definitely recommend this game for a party!
We also got to build and paint our very own Warhammer figures via Gamersaurus Rex! I’ve never painted a figurine before but the staff onsite were so helpful and very patient with us, heheh. I also got a crash course in one of the Warhammer board game modes - defeating the Zombielord and his minions! Feel free to drop in any time at their store for a figurine painting session, I’m sure they’re more than happy to have you!
All in all, Gamestart Asia 2017 was a fruitful event filled with plenty of games from all over SEA! Trying out the new games were really fun and it’s great to see so much potential in most of them! Thank you Gamestart Asia for another successful event!
