If a Computer Were a Chanting Monk: Crazy Live Sounds from Kyma + Gametrak
There are many bizarre controllers out there, and not specifically for controlling music either. We already know of the ones that won the popularity contest, like Sony’s dual-shock controller, or the attachable pistol for use with Nintendo’s Duckhunt. How about the Gametrak? I, for one, did not even know it existed – but after watching a Professor of music use one to control and trigger audio, I certainly know what it is now.
Professor Jeffrey Stolet, of the University of Oregon, puts on a show called “Lariat Rituals” using a controller that triggers audio by manipulating long cables. Although controllers aren’t anything new, the showmanship involved is quite novel. http://createdigitalmusic.com/2012/10/if-a-computer-were-a-chanting-monk-crazy-live-sounds-from-kyma-gametrak/
