Hakuouki Headcanon #14
I suck in Japanese but I find something very interesting in Nagakura Shinpachi’s Wikipedia page.
我武者羅な性格だったので、「我武者羅」と「新八」を合わせ「がむしん」と呼ばれていた。
Because he was a samurai/warrior, he was called Gamushin, a contraction between the word gamushara [braggart / reckless] and his name Shinpachi.
This nickname is used in Golden Kamuy but I wanted to see if there are historical facts beyond this. I can find two sources, Wikipedia and this one. All in Japanese so yes not very sure about my translation but I can speculate this nickname has some true origins.
So ?
I imagine that the nickname Gamushin for Shinpachi can be use in Hakuouki. I don’t know who was the first one to give him this nickname but I suppose it was in Shieikan, when they’re all together without the pain above their destiny.
My little idea is that Heisuke and Harada gave him this nickname when they were partying and everyone used it to troll Shinpatsuan x)
