I hope you know that, by not giving a ship, you’re leaving yourself open to me writing about my original characters. It’s gonna happen. In the next one. For this one, I wrote Kastle.
He stood there until darkness fell.
It wasthe same damn position Karen had left him in, when she had seen him standingthere as she had come back to her apartment. At first, she had thought to walk up to him, to give him a piece of hermind. He couldn’t keep doing this toher. Pushing her away, and then showingup again, as if he had any right to want to protect her, when these days he wasthe one that hurt her most.
But inthe end, she had walked around him. Because she was so damn tired, and she knew that if she talked to him,he would win. She didn’t know whatexactly he would win – this wasn’t a contest, this push and pull betweenthem. It shouldn’t be a contest.
Butsomehow it felt like it was, and just because she was mad didn’t mean she wasany less in love with him. If she lethim talk, he would win.
And so,she left him, and he stood there, and now it was dark and he was still outthere.
It gotcold at night. Karen knew it got cold atnight. She tried to tell herself thatshe didn’t care. Damn him, and let himfreeze his ass off out there. He didn’t choose her – he sent her away, like she was some little girl, instead of a grown ass woman who saved his ass and every other vigilante’s assaround here more often than they deserved.
She madeit an hour, before she looked outside again. At first, she thought he had left… but then she saw him, on a benchacross the street. He looked like he wassettling in for the long haul.
And Karen…Karen was an idiot, because she couldn’t seem to resist Frank, even when hedeserved her resistance.
Thosefake flowers, the ones he had given her back when she was looking for Micro, were shoved into her tiny broom closet and covered in dust. She blew them off and sneezed, and thendecided he didn’t deserve to have clean God damn flowers.
She was stillcursing Frank Castle’s name, even as she shoved the flowers into the windowwith a scowl.
The knockcame not even five minutes later.
