A simple and flavorful garlic tofu recipe that is quick and easy to prepare. The combination of garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil gives the tofu a savory umami flavor with a hint of sweetness.
Ingredients: 400g firm tofu, drained and pressed. 4 cloves garlic, minced. 2 tablespoons soy sauce. 1 tablespoon sesame oil. 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey. 1 tablespoon rice vinegar. 1 tablespoon cornstarch. 1 tablespoon water. Salt and pepper to taste. Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish.
Instructions: Cut the pressed tofu into cubes. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, maple syrup or honey, and rice vinegar. In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch and water to form a slurry. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add tofu cubes to the skillet and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Pour the soy sauce mixture over the tofu and toss to coat evenly. Add the cornstarch slurry to the skillet and stir gently until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
