March 8, 1926: Fur strikers attempt to demonstrate after the fashion of the Passaic, New Jersey worsted mill workers. Members of the striking fur workers gathered at Union Square and, forming in marching order, several thousand strong, picketed the fur district around 7th Avenue and 26th St. Police finally broke up the demonstration and arrested 125 strikers, including 26 women.
