Story:
Lola changed the day she saw her brother die.
He was caught in the trap, skin peeling away like layers on an onion.
She heard his final anguished cry, and sat there, watching, fascinated by the blood pooling on the ground.
Her brother had never been kind, but even he didn’t deserve to be wasted in the forest. He had taught her not to waste food when they were younger. And since he was already dead, would he really mind?
She came back to the Twolegplace with his blood all over her muzzle. Her twoleg had made her take a bath, assuming she had caught a bird.
After that, she learned how to get better at hunting. She found that many loners--toms especially-- didn’t question her if she asked them to follow her.
Mutilated cat bodies began to show up all over the Twolegplace, and murmurs, almost legends, flew from cat to cat. They called her the White Queen. Queens warned their kits not to stray too far, or else the White Queen would get them.
She thought it was ridiculous. They shouldn’t call her a queen if she didn’t have kittens, right? So she found a mate. Jekyl.
She didn’t count on Jekyl piecing together the rumors, the pieces of evidence laying bodies at her feet.
She tried to run, but he grabbed her by the collar, squeezing until she saw no more.
