An 1858 illustration from the French newspaper "Le Monde Illustré" of the torture and execution of a French missionary in China by slow slicing. In this form of execution, the condemned person was killed by using a knife to methodically remove portions of the body over an extended period of time.
The statue of Perseus by Benvenuto Cellini is located in front of the Loggia dei Lanzi in the Signoria district of Florence Italy (Firenza). The 1554 statue depicts a decapitation that was intended as a warning to enemies of Cosimo I
