🍀 Just out here looking for leprechauns. I wrote this caption last year too, but here it is again for anyone hoping to visit Calla Lily Valley! Also yes I overedited these for the fun of it feeling like such a magical unreal place. 😆 Off of Highway 1 near Big Sur, is a beautiful valley with hundreds of white calla lilies. Getting here can take a bit of planning, since they only bloom from late Feb-April. 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙏𝙤 𝙂𝙚𝙩 𝙃𝙚𝙧𝙚 The trailhead to Calla Lily Valley is at Garrapata State Beach. Park in the dirt pull-off area at mile marker 18, across from the green Doud Creek Ranch gate. Parking and the trail are both free. 𝘼𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙡 The hike is about .5 miles out and back, and is super easy. There are footpath trails throughout the lilies, and a babbling brook. The trail gets muddy and there’ve been reports of poison oak in the area, so it’s best to wear proper footwear 🥾 and long pants. You can walk onto Garrapata Beach from the lilies, too! 𝘽𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙂𝙤 Go at sunrise or sunset to avoid crowds. The parking fills up fast. You’ll also wanna try going mid-season before the lilies start turning brown & dying.
