โช๏ธ ๐พ๐๐ก๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ก๐ฎ ๐๐๐ก๐ก๐๐ฎ & ๐๐ค๐ฌ ๐ฉ๐ค ๐๐๐ฉ ๐๐๐๐ง๐ โช๏ธ Along the California coast, off of Highway 1 near Big Sur, is a beautiful valley with hundreds of white calla lilies. Getting here can take a little bit of planning, since they only bloom between Feb-March. ๐๐ค๐ฌ ๐๐ค ๐๐๐ฉ ๐๐๐ง๐ The trailhead to Calla Lily Valley is found near Garrapata State Beach. Park in the dirt pull-off area at mile marker 18, across from the Doud Creek Ranch sign! Parking and the trail are both free. ๐ผ๐๐ค๐ช๐ฉ ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐ง๐๐๐ก The hike is about .5 mile out and back, and is super easy. There are footpath trails throughout the lilies, and a babbling brook. The trail gets muddy and thereโs poison ivy in the area, so itโs best to wear proper footwear ๐ฅพ and long pants. You can walk onto Garrapata Beach from the lilies, too! ๐ฝ๐๐จ๐ฉ ๐๐๐ข๐ ๐ฉ๐ค ๐๐ค Go at sunrise! We arrived at the trailhead at 8am, later than we planned to, and saw the parking area nearly full. But luckily it wound up being a ton of surfers and only 2 other couples were in the Lily Valley. The parking did fill up fast, and more people started showing up for the flowers on our way back to the car. So the earlier, the better. ๐๐๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ค ๐๐ฉ๐๐ฎ We tent camped for a night at @ventanabigsur Ventana Campground in Big Sur, which is under 30 mins south of the lilies. ๐ They also had glamping options, clean shared bathrooms with warm water, picnic tables, and fire rings.
