Miles saw the familiar werewolf, running on a high from the Black Plague. He walked up to the other, wrapping his arm around the boy’s shoulder. “Hey, man. Long time no see.”

Memorial Day weekend was the one time of year Leilani looked forward to the most. Something exciting was always going on, and this year wasn’t going to disappoint. Plus, it was one of the first years she didn’t feel obligated to hang out with her brothers because she didn’t have anyone else. The offer from Garrett had surprised her, but she couldn’t say no even if she tried. She waited near the entrance, rocking dramatically from foot to foot until she saw him. The excitement grew as she closed the gap between them. “Hey! I’m so excited for this, I’m like a little kid in a candy store.”
