hiiiiii kris 💖💖💖💖 twirls my hair cutely will you write timekeeper and croissant angst based off of our dumb shenanigans on discord
There have always been some... Odd occurrences when it came to reflective surfaces. Perhaps it was just her experiences with how timelines often emitted strange and distorted forms of light, but Croissant couldn't help but be curious as to why this was the case. She wasn't much for figuring out the physics of light, that was more of her brother's field, but... In the very least, reflective surfaces should be accurate when a wormhole isn't involved. Reflective surfaces should act as they normally do, so long as there isn't some type of abnormality in this location. And, when it comes to being within the TBD, Croissant knew full-well there shouldn't be any oddities around here... This was the most stable place in all of the space-time continuum!
...As much of an idiotic choice it was to hide here, perhaps it was that stupidity of an idea that made it unexpected and a good place to hide!
Yet despite its stability, there was still something missing. The reflection that Croissant should have seen in the headlights of her craft should have been of herself, but... It just... Wasn't. Sure, it was about the same palette, but there was far more yellow and far less brown. If she stared close enough, she could even see a... Spiral? That wasn't a part of the mechanic's headlight, nor was it a part of anything that could be reflected. Narrowing her gaze, Croissant grew curious of what could have caused this, though the source was quite different than what one would expect.
"You really thought you could outrun me again and again, didn't you?" That voice-!
Croissant whipped around, holding out her wrench defensively to the deity that made their presence more than just a bit known. "T-Timekeeper!? I thought you were- You shouldn't be-"
"I shouldn't be where I control, and should be out looking for other places to control and bring under my grasp? Oh, how simple-minded you can be..." Backing away from the mechanic, Timekeeper grinned with an aura that shook Croissant to her core each time she encountered this devious tricker. "Come now, sweet Croissant, you may have thought your reverse psychology would have gotten me off of your trail, but you have forgotten... I know more about you than you know of yourself. In fact, you could learn such if you just gave up and joined the rest of your family."
Blinking, the fixer-upper of a cookie couldn't help but be taken aback. Sure, she knew of Caramel being taken into the TBD as some higher figure- not of his own will- but the rest of her family, too? Why... "I'm- I'm not going to give up on taking down such a poorly led organization!" There was a laugh from Timekeeper, one that brought a small growl from Croissant. "You laugh now, but- but know that no matter what happens to me or those around me, I'm not going to stop fighting!"
"No matter what happens, you say?" The deity drew closer once more, floating upon their scissors and gently bringing down that wrench that was such a 'huge threat' to them. "Now that sounds quite selfish, now doesn't it? Ruining others just so you could have your way? You really haven't considered what your actions are doing to others, have you?" Another laugh, and in the blink of an eye the keeper was gone. Croissant searched the area as fast as her eyes could process, only settling upon seeing Timekeeper within the lens of her craft.
"Everything you're doing is for naught, my dearest... If only you could see that..." Croissant huffed in response, grip tightening on her wrench as the trickster continued to spout nonsense that she wouldn't dare listen to. Not in a million years, or eons if time travel had anything to do with it! "Continue down this path and not only will you destroy yourself. Your family will be disappointed upon realizing that you have failed... And that you have done nothing more than cause more grief than joy."
"Even I, the one who believed in you the most, am doubting your capabilities... Truly, you are going down the worst of timelines." More and more would be babbled on. Any interjections Croissant would make would be heckled and retorted, with nothing new coming about from it aside from a dwelling sensation of heat that began to bubble over.
"I wish you understood just how horrifically you're ruining yourself and others... Perhaps in another time, you will finally be able to realize your true purpose. Your purpose o-"
The sound of glass shattering echoed through the room. The engineer wouldn't listen to them any longer. With glass shards stuck in her glove and her wrench thankfully undamaged... It took a few passing moments for Croissant to realize precisely what she had done. Well, it was only moments, but it could be felt to be hours. "...You really like your provocation, don't you Timekeeper?" Croissant spoke bitterly, though there wasn't anyone there to listen. Not... Not physically, anyway.
"As soon as I'm done repairing this headlight, I assure you... I'm not stopping no matter what kind of manipulation you attempt to bring upon me!"

Chapter 1: California isn't So Bad?
Giggling at your elder brothers antics, and his odd way of making you feel better, you wipe the rest of your tears away and pull yourself together as much as possible. This was your first time out of the country, much less away from home without your brothers. The world was ahead of you and home was behind. Gathering your bags, you began to walk out of the bathroom. The team you were supposed to meet up with should be there soon. They were a fairly popular school, and allowing you to come and join them was truly an honor. Sometimes you begin to wonder just how such an opportunity befell upon you. Could it have been from Atsumu’s fame? Or could it have been from your own achievements? Who knows really. All you know is that you are here now..no turning back.
While waiting for your team to show up, your phone began to ring. Osamu must have known that you were really torn up about being alone, because lo and behold, Kita was calling you. Smiling you pressed the lime button and placed your phone up to your ear.
“Hello?”
“Y/N, is this a bad time?” Kita asked. His voice was softer than normal. He must have waited up for you, and the message from Osamu must have spurred him on.
“No it’s okay, I was going to call you tomorrow. I know you need your sleep and I didn’t want to wake you-“ you began but was cut off by the pepper haired man chucking.
“And let you land without properly telling you good luck? I wouldn’t have been able to sleep until I did.”
A smile spread across your face at the sweet gesture. Kita was the one person you could really go to when stuff happened between your brothers, or with life in general. He has seen you at your best and your worst, more so than your friends or family. The two of you talked for a little longer until a yawn was pulled from the ex-captains lips. A giggle escaped your throat as you imagined the man half asleep in bed.
“I’ll let you sleep, Shin.” You said softly.
“Y/N, good luck. If you ever need me, I’m always a phone call away. Goodnight. Please be safe.”
You wished him goodnight and ended the call. Your anxiety and nerves much more calmer than it was before. Just as the call had ended, a few of your teammates shouted your name. Looking their way, they were all smiling and waving you over. The looks on their faces were welcoming. Something lit a spark in you. Maybe this was where you were meant to be. Maybe these people were who you were meant to be with. California really isn’t so bad after all.

Chapter 4: WTF to Doki Doki
Sighing, you put your phone back in your pocket. Anxiety was building up inside of you. Everyone was right, he deserved the truth. While you were consumed with your thoughts, a melon flavored boba tea and a chocolate chip muffin, was placed in front of you.
“Are you okay? I’m sorry do you not like it? I can order something else if you want?” Iwaizumi said scratching the back of his neck.
You looked up, realizing that you weren’t paying attention. You picked up your boba and smiled. “I’m sorry I was in my own little world. Don’t worry about it, these are my favorites.”
Iwaizumi smiled and picked up his iced coffee. For someone so fit you didn’t think he would enjoy coffee. He looked more like a person who would only eat and drink things that were healthy. Always drinking protein shakes and eating protein bars. Considering how big his arms were, you didn’t put it past him. Iwaizumi noticed you staring at him and began to blush.
“Hey um, you are okay right? I know you said you had an emergency, and I’m not trying to pry or anything-“ he started.
“No its okay, I feel like I owe you an explication.” You began, nervously wringing your hands under the table, “I’m sure you know I’m on a few medications for depression and anxiety. Yesterday while I was on my way to practice, something....triggered my anxiety and I had a really really bad attack. I didn’t know what else to do other than to go back to my dorm. I’m sorry the message was so cryptic-“
Iwaizumi shook his head, “I’m just glad you’re okay.”
You smiled at him. He was genuinely concerned about you. There was so much more you wanted to tell him. You wanted to tell him about what was going on with the weirdo who texted you. You wanted to tell him about your growing feelings for him, but the lingering threat that whoever texted you could be dangerous. Part of you wanted to laugh it off as a prank that Atsumu or someone might be pulling. However, the feeling that you are constantly being watched never left.
It was always there. Hovering over you like an overbearing parent. Maybe it was just your imagination, but that tingling feeling in the back of your head tells you otherwise. They know too much about you. They even hacked the traffic lights. Who in their right mind would do such a thing? Someone with a motive...but for what reason.
Iwaizumi sat there, looking at you with a worried look in his eyes. Something wasn’t right. You were too nervous, too scared. Did he scare you? Did the attack you had yesterday bother you this much? Was it something he did? Reaching over to grab your shoulder, Iwaizumi was hoping he would bring you back down to earth. Only, you jumped away from him.
“I’m so sorry, Iwaizumi-San. I have to go. Thank you for the treat. I’m sorry-“
Iwaizumi could only sit there as he watched you scurry away from him. Your muffin and your presence getting colder and the clocked ticked onwards.

Chapter 5: My First Kiss
Walking down the stairs, you saw Iwaizumi standing outside your dorm house. A smile spread across your face at the sight of him shuffling his feet around. He had a slight scowl on his face, which was almost normal for him. Sporting a black jean jacket and a white shirt, he looked better than he ever has. The washed-out jeans and black Nikes only added to the glorious look. Shaking your head and slapping your cheeks, you got out of the trance you were in and opened the door. Iwaizumi snapped his head up as you walked out. A small smile tugged at his lips.
“Hey uh..here’s your bag.”
“Thank you! I appreciate you doing this for me.” You said grabbing the bag from him.
Iwaizumi smiled and rubbed the back of his neck, “It’s no problem. Well I should get going-“
“Wait!” You grabbed the sleeve of his jacket causing him to stop. Lowering your head you stared at your shoes. Honestly, you don’t know why you stopped him. It’s like something came over you and you couldn’t stop it. You both stood there a moment, neither making the effort to say or do anything. The air around you was still. People continued to move all around you. It was as if you were the only ones frozen in time.
“Would you stay? For a little while?” You asked not bothering to lift your head. For the fear of him seeing your glassy eyes and rosy cheeks. The truth is you were alone. Everyone was moving on with their lives, meeting with family, enjoying their time off from school. While you had nowhere to go, no one to stay with, no one to talk to. Iwaizumi had been your first friend. Sure he may be older than you, but you considered him to be a close friend nonetheless. A part of you knew this would happen when you accepted the offer. That you would probably be spending a lot of time alone. Not being able to see your brothers 24/7 has taken its toll on you. The three of you were always together. No matter what you did or how many fights you got into, you were the best of friends. The fact that they aren’t able to see you or come to a special moment in your life sucks. When you met Iwaizumi, it was like finding a piece of home. He reminded you so much of your brothers. He made you feel happy and safe.
Turning around and grabbing your hand, Iwaizumi began to pat the top of your head. Albeit a bit awkwardly, but it made you feel comforted nonetheless. Lifting your head slightly, you noticed the slight tint of red that dusted his cheeks. It could have been from his actions or the chilly weather outside.
“Come on,” Iwaizumi said leading you away from the dorm house, “There’s someplace I want to show you.”
The two of you walked in silence, but it wasn’t unwelcome. Your heart was beating out of your chest from nerves and anticipation. Not once did he let go of your hand. His grip was tight but not too rough. It made you feel warm at the small affection. Even if it didn’t mean anything romantically, it meant everything to you. Looking around, you noticed that you were no longer walking on the cement grounds. Instead, it was dirt and grass underneath your sneakers. Chirping could be heard all around you. Birds and other wildlife were tending to their own needs, while the pair of you trotted down the pathway. A steep hill stood in front of you.
Iwaizumi looked back at you and smirked, “I promise the climb will be worth it. Hold on tight to my hand.”
You swallowed the knot in your throat and nodded, allowing the boy to lead you up the hill. It’s not that you were scared of the hill, just the thought of the burning in your calves that would haunt your dreams later. Not only that but the constant reminder that he was holding your hand, made you feel like you were back in middle school. No one should be crushing this hard. It made you feel so stupid but you weren’t about to let go. Following Iwaizumi’s footsteps, you finally reached the top of the hill. The air around you began to swirl, leaves danced and twirled to its song. Splashes of purple and pink covered the sky as the sun was telling the world goodnight. A few speckles of light started breaking through the color, begging to be seen by the night sky viewers. The city ahead was lively, street lights starting to waken, people turning into their homes to escape the cold night. The grandeur of it all took your breath away. Not once did you dare to look away, for fear of missing something magnificent bound to happen.
Green orbs followed your every movement. When you grabbed a hold of his jacket, he knew something was bothering you. He often felt like you did, alone in a country with no familiar faces around. He knew how hard it was not to be able to see the people you love when you want to. All of his friends would call him foolish, but he cared for you. In you, he saw himself, back when he was a senior in high school and the world was against him. As the sun decided it was time for its slumber and the moon woke, the light in your eyes never diminished. He prayed to whoever would listen, that that light would never fade. The lights from the city never looked so beautiful as it did at this moment. With their white and yellow beams striking every feature on your face. He didn't know what came over him, but Iwaizumi grabbed a lock of your (h/c) hair placing it behind your ear. You turned to look at the male standing beside you. If you thought the view was breathtaking, the caring human in front of you was the killing blow. You have never seen his face soften this much. It was a look you hoped to see for the rest of your days.
It could have been something in the air or the intimacy in the moment, but it seemed as fate was pulling you closer. Without breaking eye contact, you turned towards him, shyly placing a hand on his chest. Iwaizumi’s free hand grazed over your waist. Deciding whether or not to commit to the action. His green orbs never left yours. You could see galaxies behind those eyes. As if you were staring into some crystal ball that allowed you to see all the possibilities in the world, but you would never trade any of those alternate universes over where you were now. Angling his head down slightly, you pushed up on your tippy-toes to meet him halfway. People say that when you kiss the person you love it feels like fireworks are exploding inside of you and around you. For you, it just felt right, as right as the waves crashing against the coast. It was a moment that you would cherish for the rest of your life. Pulling away slightly, your face regained its rosy color across your cheeks. Iwaizumi chuckled and ghosted his knuckles across your cheeks. As if reality had stepped in, you realize what you had just done. Fear struck you harder than any emotion at that moment. Stepping away from him slightly you placed your head in your hands.
“What have I done? Iwaizumi-san I’m so sorry-“
“I told you to call me Hajime, and stop, it’s my fault I got caught up in the moment I’m sorry.” He said grabbing your arm causing you to stop and look at him. The look on his face was one of guilt, he felt like he was the one to blame for you feeling the way you were.
Grabbing his hand you stepped closer to him, “Hajime, I don’t regret it, I have wanted to do that for a while now. I don’t want you to feel this way, I only stopped because I thought you had a thing for Luna. She talks about you all the time so I only thought-“
Hajime laughed. You didn't know whether it was a good thing or a bad thing that he found this so amusing. Turning his back towards you, he rubs the back of his head. You looked down and started playing with your fingers. Hoping that he didn't regret kissing you. You never liked wearing your heart on your sleeve, you wished that the one time you did, it wouldn’t end up with you crying alone at 3 am. Turning back around towards you, Iwaizumi grabbed both of your hands, looking you dead in the eyes.
“I never have, nor will, have a thing for Luna. She has been obsessed with me since I dated her older sister. She hasn’t left me alone since I broke up with her either. Luna has no say or hold over my feelings Y/N.” Hajime said with a huff at the end.
Tears began to pool in your eyes. You didn't know if you were comprehending what you were hearing. Hajime had feelings for you? Did he care for you? He and Luna weren’t dating? Part of you wanted to wrap your arms around his neck and kiss him again. The other part of you was worried about what your brothers would think. What about that weirdo who keeps sending you messages? They threatened Kita, what would happen if they found out about your feelings for Hajime? Cupping your cheeks in his hands, he slowly leaned down and placed a soft kiss on your forehead.
The moment, the emotions, the scenery, it was all too perfect. Nothing should ever be this perfect. Grabbing his hand, you lead Iwaizumi over to one of the trees surrounding the hill. You both sat and leaned against the tree, with your head on his shoulder. Not once did you let go of each other’s hands. Playing with his fingers, you realized you had forgotten about being lonely. You had forgotten about the possible threat to your life. Things felt a little more bearable with him by your side.
“Want to tell me why you were so worked up earlier?” Hajime said tilting his head sideways.
You sighed, “the twins aren’t able to visit me while I’m on vacation. Nor are they able to come to the game. I miss them so much.”
It was silent between the two of you after that. It’s like you both knew the pain of being away from home. The two of you stayed like that for a while before it got too late. When you both got back to the dorm house, Iwaizumi stopped you before you went inside. He placed another kiss on the top of your head before letting you go. When you reached the door, you turned around and waved him goodbye. He smiled and waved back, watching you enter the building completely before making his way back home. You felt like it was so cliche. Confessing your feelings to someone, their feelings being reciprocated, the walk home after, but you wouldn’t want it to happen any other way.
