HACKS 4x03 "What Happens in Vegas"
Ben Ahlers with Gavin Matts
I'm just trying to take responsibility for my actions, y'know. We don't really do that anymore. We don't. Like, everybody's in therapy now, but nobody takes responsibility. Everybody's just like, "Ah yeah, my bad. I'm working on it, so. Yeah it's just my demons. My bad, I just got demons. It's not my fault, I got demons. I'm sorry I cheated, I have demons." You don't have demons, you are a demon. You need to restrategize, people trusted you.
I just don't want to get old, it scares me. Getting old is scary. Like, I don't want to get old because I don't want hindsight. That seems like a curse. Like to look back on your life with perfect clarity and be like, "Ah yeah, I could have done things better easily. Ah man, I made all the wrong choices. Wait, you're telling me all I had to do was tell the truth? Ah, who knew? Who knew life would've been easier if I wasn't a pathological liar."
And if lettuce kills you like, you were supposed to die. Y'know? That's your journey. They were like, "Don't eat romaine." That's all I ate for three weeks. I was like, "Take me now." Y'know? I'm ready.
Yeah, I think it's very hard to exist right now. Two people I know, they killed themselves three months into quarantine. Two people I know. Which at the time I was like, "This seems short-sighted." But now, eight months into this shit, I'm like, "I think they knew something we didn't."
I don't know, I mean, suicide is a taboo topic. I think it's because it's looked down upon because y'know, Christian idealogies are so built into our society that we think that like if you take your own life you're slapping God in the face, because like life is a gift from God. But this guy is a gift giving hack, like he sucks. He gives the same gift to everybody. Like he gave life to somebody and he's like, "I'm gonna keep doing this." And, I don't get a gift receipt or anything? "Well why do you want to return this?" I'm like, "Look who's doing well. I would like this back."
Like billionaires, that's who's doing well? Have you seen these people? They're so ugly. How do you have so much, but also so little? And they won't die either. Billionaires won't die. Do you think the secret to eternal life is having sex with children? (Shrugs.) Sorry, I've been watching a lot of documentaries. That's what they're all about. I'm like, "Why are we documenting this? Why don't we save these people?" Seems like we're using our resources the wrong way. "Should we help them?" "No. We need content."
I don't know, I don't care for billionaires. Like how do we know human sacrifice doesn't work? We don't. I mean I've never had a good harvest. Not one.
I don't know, I've changed some things in my life. Like, I think porn is bad now. I didn't used to think it was bad, because I grew up on it, y'know? Y'know like, I'm young, that's like Saturday morning cartoons for me. I saw 2 Girls 1 Cup when I was eight. Yeah, I was eight years old when I saw that. People are like, "Why are Millennials so lazy?" It's cause I watched that at eight years old and then I was like, "What's a job?" Y'know?
