Mass Effect Trilogy Appreciation Week!!

Day 2: Shepard's relationships (Friends/Li/Lovers/Family)

I specifically wanted to do this one with characters OTHER than their love interests, so I went with a person that is extremely important to each of my Shepards.

Serena Shepard - Ashley Williams They meet on the Normandy and just hit it off immediately. Serena hasn't had a lot of long term, group postings before the Normandy, so she really gets the time to develop a much more meaningful friendship with Ashley than she's been able to with anyone else she's served with. They bond over book discussions, weapons preferences, conversations about religions and philosophy, and a deep and abiding love of the Mako.

Seamus Shepard - Zaeed Massani Seamus is having a Horrible, Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Time on the Cerberus SR-2, and this somehow translates into him ending up as Zaeed's adopted son. The general sad wet cat aura he has for most of ME2 is pathetic enough that Zaeed can't really stand it and ends up reaching out a bit more than he might have otherwise. Seamus latches onto a perceived bit of security and stability with both hands and just kinda never lets go, not that Zaeed would ever want him to.

Conan Shepard - Lieutenant Lauren Meyers Lieutenant Meyers is an OC of mine that gets her biotics well into service of the Alliance and ends up going back through biotic basic at the same time Conan is. He's fresh out of the Reds, malnourished, feral, and with a mile of bad habits learned from them. She knows that scared dogs bite, and sees the fear beneath the aggression and ends up befriending and practically adopting Conan. They go through N training together, and she becomes the Hero of Elysium in his canon, although they've dropped out of contact by the time Mass Effect 1 starts.

Gavin Shepard - Admiral Kahoku Due to being the son of Hanna Shepard, Gavin has a complicated relationship with a lot of the Alliance brass. However, in his canon, I have Admiral Kahoku being the one to arrive at Elysium after the Skyllian Blitz, and him and Gavin staying in contact after. Some people say Admiral Kahoku is too mired in the day to day minutiae of the soldiers under him, but that's part of what makes Gavin look up to him so much. Although Gavin would never admit it to anyone but himself, Admiral Kahoku was probably his biggest mentor in the Alliance.
