I think they knew Meredith because she was at Eichen House with the Grandmother. They never really expressed it clearly so idk tho
I'd be 100% on board with that if it weren't for that old picture of Meredith in the house. I guess it makes the most sense for them to have been banshee buddies, but we don't know the Eichen house timeline because Jeff Davis doesn't know how to handle timelines for the most basic of things let alone side plots.

Let's go over Lydia first. She was all by herself in her lake house... again... but this time, her mom followed her. While the main plot's going on, we jump back to the two of them. Eventually, we find out that Lydia's grandma was a banshee, and she made another set of deadpool names. In the "next time on teen wolf," we get to see Lydia writing Stile's name on the new list but we don't know why. Also, the urn that was supposed to be holding Grandma Martin's ashes is actually full of mountain ash. That boathouse where they tied up Liam is also made with mountain ash, so Lydia lays down some powder so now the boathouse is supernatural proof.
Main plot: the gang decides to fake Scott's death to lure out the benefactor. They use Kira's electricity powers to slow his heart (somehow?????) and then they report that he's dead but say that they can't get a picture for visual confirmation. The benefactor doesn't show up, but Kate and the beserkers do, and they beat the crap out of Kira, Liam, and papa Argent while they try to get Scott's body for some undisclosed reason but eventually they all back off. Scott wakes up and finds out that the plan failed, but Sherlock Holmes' his way into a guess that the benefactor's either a banshee, or working with a banshee.
Malia finds her adoption file in the Hale vault and has a long talk with Peter, which gets Malia interested in learning about her real mom.
While Scott was out, he had a set of dreams where the Mute killed Liam, and not only was there nothing he could do about it, in the last dream, he actively hacked Liam up with a tomahawk and kinda liked it. I dunno if that's going anywhere, but it was pretty fucked up.
Also, Agent McCall has to leave town for a hearing because he shot the Chemist in the last episode.
Also also, Derek and Braeden hooked up.
Also also also, his eyes aren't glowing anymore and he can't heal.
Also also also also, Kira's mom pretty much got disemboweled by a beserker, so she had to be helecoptered out to a hospital where monsters don't show up every other day, but she'll be fine eventually.
