The gratitude I feel to have such a phenomenal mentor and dear friend in my life is immeasurable. @madazon_can_can is precisely who I needed in a drag dad and I know it’s no coincidence our paths crossed. I have learned so much from them and I’m looking forward to learning even more in the multitudes of fields they’re teaching me. Not only have they guided me in becoming a drag king, but also in spiritual progression and life ethics. I appreciate their blunt, forward way of teaching and being. It’s harsh but needed. I’ve had plenty of nice people in my life, I need kind human beings in my life now; and kindness isn’t always sweet. Sometimes it’s brutal and heartbreaking, but it’s most often euphoric and validating. The importance of people like Madazon is that they consistently strive to create safe spaces for the outsiders like myself. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from them, especially this past weekend, is boundaries. As drag kings we are embodying masculinity and with that comes boundaries. Divine masculinity, which we all possess, is all about standing up for our boundaries to protect ourselves and those in our life we love. It’s something very foreign to me but Madazon has been helping me excavate that part of myself that I’ve always possessed. It’s empowering to become the daddy of your own life and sometimes you need an enby clown daddy to show you how to do that. So thank you Dadazon for all the wisdom you’ve given me and I can’t wait for more queer gemini adventures!
