How do you think is best for men to wear jewelry? I've been wanting to get your golgari pendent for a long time and part of the reason for not getting it is I'm not sure about wearing it.

Personally,I just wear whatever I like and to hell with what other people think.I'm fortunate in that the people I surround myself with aren'tstereotypical and give me shit for wearing jewelry but, I mean, I'veliterally worn every pendant, bracelet, and earring I've designedwhenever I go out, including the giant calla lily sooo. I think theimportant thing is that whatever you decide to wear (in this case ascarab with a stone in the middle) you just need to be confident inwearing it.

Now,if you're just talking about like...what to wear with it, the mainthing you need to be aware of is that men's clothing is super notdesigned with wearing a necklace in mind. Even with an 18 inch chainI still need to clasp it further along the chain so that it doesn'tget eaten by a shirt collar. If you're wearing a button up shirt Ifeel like having it open with a t-shirt under it would be the bestidea, or not buttoning up the two buttons closest to the collar(you'd just need to be fine with showing a bit more chest).

Would you be willing to share what material you print your pendants with and from what company? I've been messing around with 3d printing and want to try printing some jewelry with material that won't irritate skin.

I use Shapeways to print everything. There was another company I used a while back for my portfolio show when I graduated college called Sculpteo (I think, it’s been a while). Shapeways is nice because you can actually sell your designs straight from their website.

I’ve printed designs in:

plastic

stainless steel 

gold plated steel

bronze plated steel

nickel plated steel (they recommend not using this for jewelry because people can have allergic reaction to this one... I just figure that people will know whether or not they have the allergic reaction and leave it to them)

grey steel

aluminum

solid bronze

solid brass

sterling silver

14k gold plated brass

18k gold plated brass

rhodium plated brass

porcelain ceramic

If you’re worried about irritating your skin I’d probably go with the plated brass materials or silver. Those materials tend to be the safest but they might run on the higher end of expense, though that depends on complexity and how much of the material they need to use (I took a look at my models and it looks like something using about 1.16cm³ should run around $32 for a plated brass material while something using 1.7cm³ will be around $66 for the same material)
