Compel
300+ young people declared their lives to Jesus Thursday night. Incredible. I am always so thankful that God always provides and always shows up. There were some radical encounters last night and I have no shame to admit I still have a spiritual hang-over thinking about all the awesome things that happened. There was everything from Christians, atheists and Buddhists to sorority girls and football players to believers and skeptics to 20 year olds and 60 year olds. The theatre was so packed that dozens of people had to stand just to hear the word of God. I am blessed to be apart of an amazing church and to get the chance to hear a world changing pastor like Benny Perez. He flew fall the way from Las Vegas to Boise to share his passion for Christ and how much Jesus loves each and every one of us. In February of this year was my first Compel. I was a lukewarm Christian "sorta doing the church thing" when everyone started talking about this event. Some friends at church said, "You should go, it's gonna be fun". Luckily F-U-N is my middle name so it didn't take much convincing. Pastor Chris Durso from New York preached an amazing message that night and it was the night I decided I didn't want to be a lukewarm Christian anymore. I recommitted myself to Jesus and the last 8 months of spiritual growth has lead me to fall in love with my savior more and more each day. That was my "moment". Last night I was among the leaders standing and I watched as Pastor Benny shook the crowed with his humor and electric passion. I watched the crowed have their moment just like I did. Hundreds of people rose their hands wanting a new life-a life with the everlasting love of Jesus. Some were crying and some were getting rocked by the Holy Spirit. I bawled like a little baby as I watched their encounters! After weeks of convincing, one of my closest friends who was skeptical about Jesus and Religion decided to give Compel a try. I closely watched her reactions to the word and was overwhelmed when I saw her commit herself to living a new faith filled life for Jesus. Tears of joy fell down my face as I thanked God for answering my prayers. She had her moment, too. Pastor Benny talked about how this new life following Jesus only gets better. I may know nothing else for certain, but I do know Jesus is enough for me.
