February 15th Morning, Channel 12 Eyewitness News Broadcast
"New Details have emerged about last nights devastating house fire in Manchester Park.
Yesterday evening a car and home were vandalized in the Manchester crescent block of the Manchester Park neighborhood, a car first being set on fire to seemingly lure out the building's resident before the house itself was started on fire. This also resulted in the loss of a neighboring house, and damage to another. Damages are estimated to be around a million dollars.
New footage from the Carroll Radio Show and Blog TheTea, has been obtained by Eye Witness News that seems to depict an obvious case of targeted arson. On the scene today is reporter Michelle Charlesworth.
Michelle."
*Footage plays of the glass breaking into the basement studio and then several lit molotov cocktails following before the room turns into a blazing, hellish, inferno.*
"Thanks Chantee. I... I don't have words for what happened here last night. I spoke to the homeowner, Carroll's very own Britney Beaver host of the popular Radio show TheTea, and she's told me that she has no idea who would want to commit such an act against her. As you can see behind me and from the footage, the devastation is staggering.
This house, and the house next door have been completely burned to the ground, while the one on the other side has some nasty exterior damage. I commend the Carroll Fire Department for their tireless work to save it. There's been thankfully no injuries reported, but it could have been so much worse.
A Go-Fund-Me has been started to help Miss Beaver recoup some of what she lost, though no amount of money can bring back her sense of security.
We've gotten word that the second house was owned by Eden's Garden owner Sada Vang, but we haven't been able to reach her for comment.
Carroll Sheriff's department is currently asking for any information citizens may have and Sheriffs have been going door to door all morning asking for doorbell camera footage from neighboring homes. Carroll feels just a little less safe this morning, Chantee, and that's really unfortunate.
Back to you in the studio."
With that, the Carroll Holiday Spirit Festival is now over!
The tree has been lit, the raffle has been drawn, and the stores are finally closing up for the night. The event was a rip roaring success, and the Carroll Town Council is so grateful to everyone.
Here's to next year, Carrollers!
The Holiday event is now over. There is no need to drop threads, they can continue as long as needed.
Please remember to continue to tag event threads as 'Carroll Christmas' to differentiate from new non-event threads.
Thank you SO much to everyone for making the event so cute, cozy, fun, and active despite our busy holiday schedules. We really hope you enjoyed it.
"Good Morning Carrollers, it's 5am and this morning we're waking up to a whole new Carroll out there. Streets are flooded and the damage is substantial. At some point last night the Ferris Wheel toppled over completely, landing on top of the little tykes dragon ride, and the funhouse was completely blown away. There's been reports that the community center lost the entire roof, and the dear Carroll Clock Bell was blown off it's couplings and is now laying in the middle of Town Hall's second floor. Main Street is completely flooded, including our beloved Second Chances, and The Silver Bullet has definitely seen better days considering there's not a pane of glass left in it's windows. Painfully, Carroll Elementary also took a lot of damage with the entire historic gymnasium turned to rubble.
Thankfully, there's been no casualties reported yet, but the sun has just risen on a beautiful blue Carroll sky. Hope you're all okay out there, Carrollers, and that your homes stood strong in the storm. For now, let's all wake up with some hopeful tunes to help bolster the soul. For all we bump heads, we're in this together, Carroll family, and we will surivive."
Well into the morning hours the storm blew hard and angry, only gaining in momentum as midnight approached and Hurricane Nikita made it's unscheduled progress toward Carroll. Coming from the west, the tree covered Country Club stood up surprisingly well, as did the Stadium, the concrete fortress that it was. But the Carnival stood directly in it's way and was slammed as the hurricane came desperately close as it started to veer off. At midnight the Ferris Wheel gave way as the hardest of the storm tossed the cars violently. It shook everything around it as it threatened first to fall to the left and on top of the Funhouse and it's occupants, but eventually toppled the other way, crushing one of the children's rides instead, shaking everything in the vicinity like an earthquake.
The Funhouse wasn't saved, though, for at the height of the storm as the hurricane feathered a kiss to the Carroll shoreline around three in the morning, as it shifted off to the north, the furiously howling tempest roared it's last threats. This first shook and then tore the funhouse off it's bolted down base, leaving behind the skeleton of the structure and it's rolling barrel stomach protecting it's occupants.
Tendrils of it's violence extending out over the campus, the ninety year old foundations of the elementary school's gymnasium let go of their purchase and leading the structure to be pulled to pieces leaving the side of the school scarred. But age meant little to the dying desperation of the storm's ire, the new and still shiny modern community center found itself scalped as it's roof was peeled off like the top of a sardine can.
In the high clock tower above the roof of town hall it wrenched the century old bell from it's couplings and sent it crashing into the equally as old tiles below on the second floor, and blew out the windows of The Silver Bullet. All the while Main Street started to flood. By the the time the storm abated at four in the morning and the water started to recede it was waist deep in places due to rain and the run down from the higher elevations of the town. Second chances and it's low floors was one of them.
This marks the end of the of the event. The storm broke at 4am and left devastation in it's wake. If your location wasn't mentioned the wheel chose it to make it through the night unscathed!
Cell service will be restored by 8 am but power will remain down for the 24 hours after the storm as first responders and utility crews rush to restore service and aide the injured.
Don't forget to check in on your loved ones!
It will be up to players how their homes faired, besides those in the stacks and downtown, as they'd have escaped most flooding, but may have suffered broken windows etc.
Pre and post event threads can resume today and event threads on the dash, and discord channels for the more affected locations, can continue to their finishes. Thank you everyone for your participation and I hope you all enjoy the results of the event!
The trucks have pulled into the parking lot of the campus stadium, and work has begun behind newly erected covered chain link. Most life long Carrollers know what this means: the Spring Carnival is well on it's way.
The highlight of the season in Carroll and the last big event before the opening for tourist season starts in May. Most expect the flyers to start going up in the next week or so, but already the students and staff of Carroll Campus have the entire town's atmosphere buzzing in excitement for April to come.
Please message the main with all your muses that will be in town for the Easter weekend, as well as any that would have a booth/food truck/etc along main street or the pier for the event.
I just wanted to pop in here and thank you guys for being so patient with me as I adjust to being a solo admin. Self motivating is not my strong suit, so I apologize for my slow catch up on all my duties.
You guys have been amazing, and please remember that you can always come to me if I miss something and I will be forever grateful! There won't be an official event this month, but I do have something in the works for Easter! So now is the perfect time to get caught up and ready for all the excitement that we know an Admin N event brings with it!
Love you guys!
Admin N!
P.S. Britney Beaver is currently taking applications for co-host of TheTea, so please send your interest to me in the DMs on discord, preferably.
Admin Jay will be taking a hiatus and stepping away from the group for the time being to focus on irl stuff that's going SUPER WELL, so no worries there!
So, for the time being... I, Admin N will be the sole admin. Thank you in advance for your patience with any slow downs in admin duties due to this change. Acceptances will still be daily.
