             her hand was still held to her chest in surprise that CURDLED into annoyance as she stared him down. she slept very little at night, usually at her desk most of the night making PLANS before throwing them out and having to start from the beginning again, but he’d managed to startle her more awake. ‘why are you SNEAKING around anyway? you wouldn’t want people starting rumors.’ she leaned against the doorway to her room, covering up her arms to warm them up from the COLD.  ‘your room is on the other side of the outpost if i remember correctly.’

         they’d been at it for a long time and it was late in the night. nerves were FRAZZLED as is but being so close to each other and reaching no agreement meant their tension had reached it’s boiling point. their faces were only a few inches apart, VENOMOUS gaze before their lips were shoved against each other so fast and harsh that she couldn’t even determine who moved first. her hands immediately went to his wrists, grabbing them before he could use his HANDS to tug her closer. if he was going to play rough, than it would be by her rules.

         ‘what else would i do? go yelling it from the rooftop so everyone can start planning a WEDDING?’ she made it a point not to look up at him as she continued making notes alongside the map of the region. ‘you’re standing very close for someone that’s supposed to HATE me, sabal. wouldn’t want anyone thinking that their brave leader is succumbing to my feminine, temptress wiles.’

She held up the piece of honeycomb between her fingers, her smile soft as the sticky honey slowly making its way down her fingers. He’d been staring at her since the moment she offered him the piece. Once he spoke, his voice a little light and distant, she realized why he might be like that. And her cheeks grew warm, but she grinned a little bit.

         but he will. this was just a temporary VICTORY and once the adrenaline wore off they’d be back at each other’s throats. so despite how foreign but welcoming the hand on her back felt, she turned her head away and to the ground instead. lips pursed, she found it in her to finally SPEAK. ‘you will.’
