The Coat of Arms of HRH Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge GCVO
A reflection to her position as Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order. The Duchess bears the arms of her husband, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, impaled with those of her family. The Middleton coat of arms is based on those of her father Michael Middleton, which was granted to him by the College of Arms.
Her Royal Highness' Coat of Arms has changed slightly in that she is entitled to the addition of the circlet of the Royal Victorian Order around the escutcheon and the order's insignia suspended underneath.
Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom created HRH Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order in celebration of her 8th Wedding Anniversary on 29th April 2019.
The Order, like the Orders of the Garter and the Thistle, is in the personal gift of Her Majesty and does not require any approval from government. This bestowal brings the Duchess of Cambridge into the ranks of her step-mother-in-law and other members of the Royal Family, such as HRH The Countess of Wessex.
