ASCOD Infantry Fighting Vehicle Chosen as Latvia’s New Tactical Solution for Ground Forces
On November 15, 2024, Latvia officially selected the ASCOD tracked infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) from General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) to enhance its armed forces. The ASCOD, known for its modular design and powerful performance, will strengthen Latvia’s military capabilities in mobility, firepower, and protection. This next-generation vehicle is equipped with advanced weaponry, STANAG Level 6 protection, and NRBC defense systems. With proven service in countries like Spain, Austria, and the UK, the ASCOD aligns with NATO’s objectives and supports Latvia’s defense industry through local collaboration and knowledge transfer.
