Fear should have been at the forefront of the experience—a great beast of nothing but remains—yet the brunette found herself devoid of breath in its face. As if once more the Guardians reminded her that she had left the living world and it was by their grace alone she had returned, this would be the end of this gifted journey. Alone, without her friends, without anything to call her own anymore.
Blue eyes closed, accepting this fate. She had run out of time.
By blessing of some sort, a stranger stood before her, protecting her, defying the Guardians’ will for her demise. Slaying the beast and staving off attacks and protecting her, he muttered something—P e a n u t s? What a strange thing to say to stir her lids open in confusion, seeing the end of the beast in a fell swoop.
Ah, a misunderstanding. “Panacea…” She mumbled, unfamiliar with the term, but it was no matter. Once he had collapsed, she rushed to his side, ensuring he still lived. Gently shaking him, breath still slipped from his lips and concern overwhelmed her. A man that defied fate. A man who needed peanu—panacea.
Crouching low and lifting him onto her back, Yakumo began her steady carry towards the small town she had been harbored in for the past few days prior to setting out. Slow moving, the woman was careful with him as she dragged him back, rush just as important as gentle care. Townsfolk greeted her with glee, until the mirth vanished with the show of the man on her back.
Hands easily assisted, taking him to a small clinic where plenty of medicines were at disposal. The human’s presence was never waning from his side as the healer administered the panacea to the patient.
Merely a waiting game for his own lids to open.
