Frisk stares out the window of their shared bedroom in the foster home, out at the snowy peak of Mount Ebott.
It was too dangerous to go there in winter, but in summer that place was pretty much Frisk’s playground. All the stories about magic and monsters - Frisk could go there and imagine fantastical adventures, full of daring and danger and heroism, sometimes even romance!
Frisk could be a great knight, or a powerful wizard, anything they wanted.
A voice calls from downstairs, telling the nine kids in the house that dinner is ready. Frisk looks back out the window once more, gaze lingering on the mountain.
They slip off the window seat and head downstairs, the last to get to the dinner table as usual. Everyone around them is alive with chatter - mostly unhappy, as Nick and Holly have gotten into trouble again. Probably ‘pot’ again.
Frisk takes their dinner and leaves the cacophony to eat alone, unnoticed as usual.
