1. What influenced or inspired the creation of this character?

tbh i was just looking over the fighting styles listed in the player’s handbook and i thought, hm, what would a duelist fighter look like? i imagined an errol flynn sort of character, someone who’s equally interested in doing damage and putting on a show, and from there i thought about seeing performers duel at renn faires, and suddenly there was theo!

the bard college of swords in xanathar’s guide really covers the whole character concept i was interested in making tbh but i hadn’t read the unearthed arcana for it at the time. if i had, theo probably would’ve been a bard! (and thus have not been in our campaign because we are bard heavy enough already.)

14. What is their favorite holiday?

this is probably just me projecting lol but if there’s a fantasy halloween in this world i think she’d be a big fan of that. she’d be a pirate!

19. What are their guilty pleasures?

fruity alcohol drinks. making ill-advised decisions in battle. a little light gambling.

progress is a rad name for a tiefling artificer, what are they like?

Progress is...excitable. she was orphaned as a young girl and was raised by a very old, slightly batty elven alchemist who treated her like his very own daughter. he instilled in her a love of both magic and science, and an insatiable curiosity. her adoptive father used his high ranking position in the alchemists’ guild to secure a place for her as well, and left her everything he had after he passed so she would never want for anything.

the other major members of the alchemists’ guild find Progress and her constant (fiery) experimentation to be, um, difficult. she’s terrible at reading people and not very good at talking them down when she makes them mad, and she tends to forget that a conversation goes more than one way.

the guild “encouraged” her to go see the world, so Progress is out traveling the land, experimenting with potions and crafting magic items, and talking the ear off everyone she meets.

typical fantasy setting, but i took the humans out, since they were just ‘average’ and adaptive, i want to explore what happens when you let the other races be adaptive, how the different races adapt to various environmental factors and the various cultural differences that arise

yeah, but i like the idea of having a full understanding of how and why everything is the way it is, and i don’t think i would have that trying to run someone else’s setting, i want to know everything

yeah true, i have notebooks full of lore facts for all my different settings orz

all three! i play a werewolf game every other friday, i play a 5e game on saturdays, i run a 4e game on sundays, i sometimes play a 4e game on mondays, and im currently writing a 5e game :3c
