I have to get my ged to go to college but I'm a low level learner and I don't think I will be able to pass the test to go to college
Hey friend! I’m excited that you’re aspiring to go to college after you get your GED! That’s awesome. Self-doubt is natural, especially when it comes to high-stakes testing, but try to use your dreams as a source of confidence. You have a plan to get what you want, and that shows perseverance!
Hundreds of thousands of people take the GED every year, most people pass the test, and test-takers come from a variety of backgrounds. Some have been out of school for years, and others were recently enrolled but didn’t graduate. Many will probably be “low level learners” or will think of themselves that way.
“Low level learner” is an educational term used to make teachers’ and administrators’ jobs more convenient. Now that you’re out of school, I would encourage you to stop thinking of yourself as a “low level learner” because I think the term is damaging your self-confidence, which actually limits your ability to learn. Instead, you may want to think, “In high school, I struggled with [this specific task], and now I’m learning [this specific skill].”
