searching for healing through drawing my body
art project: reframed
my body has never really felt like home – just a collection of vicious thoughts and comments of my own and others, old wounds and trauma. all of it settled deep into my skin, turning my body into something i’ve struggled to accept for so long.
i’m a lesbian artist. i see women as the purest form of art and find beauty in every shape, every curve, every story visible on skin. yet i can’t seem to find the same kindness for myself. i just know i don’t want to feel this way.
so, i’m searching for healing in what i hold dearest – art. i’m drawing myself, my body (without tattoos for privacy). maybe if i turn myself into art – the thing i cherish most – i could learn to cherish myself in the process too. look at myself differently. reframe myself.
i'll share the drawings here whenever i feel up to it. be gentle, please. the drawings can be found under the tag #gees.projectreframed 🤍
