as a religious person I do appreciate your stance on the matter. often times people forget that there are religious people around them who aren't bigoted who can read and hear what you say about religion.

Absolutely. And might I say I’m SO sorry for all the terrible behaviour you were witness to. I truly thought “be decent and polite” was gonna be a much colder take, but clearly I was mistaken.
