Gel Vs Regular Medium

I’ve gotten a few questions regarding what gel medium is and how it differs from regular or fluid mediums. (Sorry I missed your message @mjax1 ♥️) So I thought I’d write up a little post on it.

I use Matte Gel Medium by Liquitex.

The reason I use this is because it is thick and heavy. It will hold down heavier ephemera, e.g. chipboard or items like buttons.

Fluid or regular medium is thinner and fine for basic art journaling or collage work.

Because it is a wetter medium, it can wrinkle whatever it is you’re trying to glue down such as a magazine clipping. Some people can get an even result, I am not one of them. Ha!

Golden brand also makes an amazing Gel Medium. It is smooth like butta’. But it’s quite expensive imo.
