Meanwhile in Iceland (Geldingadalur)...
volcanic eruption in Iceland
Amazing volcano in Geldingadalur, Iceland
Photographer: Raymond Hoffmann
Yesterday I took a trip to the ongoing volcanic eruption in Geldingadalur, and we stuck around for a while, from daylight to dark. It was pretty fascinating!

I am pleased to report that bulbs emerging from the ground look an awful lot like our baby shield volcano at Geldingadalur in Iceland. Complete with ground deformation and everything. As such, I have named this baby (hyacinth? I think?)* Geldingadalur. Sadly (though not unexpectedly), they do not produce lava. My neighbors might get a bit angry with me if they did. Loki and Hel would have been mighty pleased, though.
*will confirm later
Geldingadalur Edit
