A Darwin hybrid tulip, probably Tulipa 'Red Impression’ was creating a striking display in this border. Each flower has a golden halo surrounding a near-black blotch. This is a reliable tulip cultivar which will return the next year providing it has fertile, well-drained soil with protection from excessive wet and shelter from strong winds.
