For those of you freaking out over the “viral math problem”,,, the answer is 16,,, and I have evidence to back it up,,,
You guys do realize that multiplication and division (and addition and subtraction) has to be done from left to right, correct? I feel like that’s where most people get it wrong, and that’s how a lot of people get the answer 1
See, so I would assume that for those of you that got 1, you did something like this:
8/2(2+2)
8/2(4)
8/(8)

So you took GEMDAS (or PEMDAS however you spell it) a bit too seriously. (Grouping, exponents, multiplication, division)
As I said earlier, the way you actually do GEMDAS is Grouping, Exponents, Multiplication AND Division from left to right, and Addition AND Subtraction from left to right.
So if you follow the rule I gave you, you would have something like this:
8/2(2+2)
8/2(4)
4(4) <- because you divided first!!!
16 <- and then you multiplied!!!
Tbh??? I’m not trying to call anyone stupid - I just thought of clearing up this little confusion I’ve been seeing lately!!!
