PART 1: Analysis
I'm putting them under a microscope. Also, this may read like a school essay because that’s just how my brain interprets analysis.

In his first appearance in S3e3, Cammy (whom at this point is named Camera #1) alongside with Camera #2 they are portrayed as a satire of media/journalists and how invasive they are to get stories. Cammy is seen asking more of the questions while Camera #2 wrote the article. The questions were mostly digs at Mephone trying to gauge at things Mephone is trying to hide about the show, which is part of his biggest insecurities. Later on they’re a part of the Unvitational Committee because they were mad. Mephone didn’t let them invade his privacy and helped to silence Mephone into “do not disturb mode”. In the next episode, they vote to melt Mephone. He doesn't do anything in the climax of the episode, but afterwards, they do stick around with Camera #2 where they hang out on boaty, and then they’re seen listening to Cabby’s retelling of the picture challenge.
When Cabby recites some of the events of the game as a story, Cammy looks absolutely enamored by the story and talks with amazement when asking “you fought the Inner-Flame?” when referring to how Cabby rammed into silver in the picture challenge. The fact they refer to Silver as “the Inner-Flame” may also be a starting indicator to their later worship because of how they refer to Silver in a grandeur light.
A smaller foreshadowing can be seen in this scene with walkie talkie talking about the contestants worshiping Mephone and Cammy is onscreen which can be a pretty subtle nod if you think of it as one.
So now, to ask why they worship Mephone. It’s believed that the earliest religions were used as a way to understand our world when humans were still learning how the world around us worked. Cammy’s ideals seem to stem from a more Christianity adjanct angle as seen in their “holier than thou” esc speech and seeing Mephone as the only god. Many often follow/join christianity for either community, soul-seeking, and the belief of god and his teachings. The belief of god seems to be more of Cammy’s reason because no one else shares the idea of worshipping Mephone so no community is made from that and Cammy seems to be relatively outcasted, they also don’t talk about anything that Mephone specifically would want them and others to be like (other than to also see him as their bounteous creator) so there is no basis for soul-searching though they do say they have “atone for their sinful ways” but it isn’t very specific compared to values that Christianity (ex. Being charitable) wants its followers to hold. I don’t think Cammy’s ideas come from trying to grasp an understanding of everything but rather the interpretation their mind came up with from knowing the truth of everything because of the belief of just worshiping Mephone because he created their world and not using the idea of Mephone to understand what is happening. The idea of Cammy's view of themself as a manifestation of Mephone’s self hatred may have also stemmed from this interpretation.
It had to be in the story told to newbies where Cammy started to worship Mephone since before Cammy was actively antagonistic towards Mephone in season 3. It's hard to say if these ideas came immediately or took time to develop since we don’t know how long Cammy has been outside of the void in Mephone but it can be somewhat new since Fan seems to be confused when telling Cammy to “stop being a martyr” while Teakettle knew about Cammy prior talking to Teddy Bear but that could have been from their conversation in the challenge.
