My retro Jazzy Jeff Gemini mixer
If you were a teenager in the hay day of rap music, did you rush to save money for turntables? These days, if kids have money and they want to buy something nice, they buy a car. It is the symbol of hard work, or at the very least, family wealth. Before this was possible, kids had other things on their mind. They actually wanted to know what they were worth, rather than wearing or driving displays of wealth. If a kid had turntables in the 90’s, that kid was one bad dude. Of course, these were expensive back them, and they still are today. They cannot be produced like a MIDI controller, and were made of metal and other sensitive equipment. Those who have actually hung on to their old gear get to have a sense of longevity when they pull out their old mixer and plug it into their new computer or MIDI controller. The fact that it even works at all is a statement in itself, as many newer products have the lifespan of a goldfish. I guess we should cherish the gear we are still able to use today, as they simply don’t make them like they used to. http://djworx.com/simple-pleasures-my-retro-jazzy-jeff-gemini-mixer/
