i understand your pain when it comes to weird porn blogs following you. my username has butts in it so i get like five porn blogs a week, usually centered around ass'. i'll be damned if i change my name though.

i just get weirded out because my blog is not nsfw????? and i’m only 17 so that’s a huge problem when porn blogs follow me

SO just a funny story something you reblogged reminded me of. some random person came into my ask box a couple of days ago and yelled at me for using someone's pet as my icon and talked about how disrespectful it was that i didn't even mention who owns her on my blog and all that jazz. except my icon is of MY ball pythong Jellybean. there's even a link on my blog to a ton of pictures of her. it was exhausting just reading the message and after that i put a disclaimer in my bio

hi! so most of the people ive seen online have substrate that their snakes are able to burrow into. i've been using newspaper and paper towels for my ball python and i was wondering if you think i should change that. i'm really paranoid about bugs somehow getting in there and breeding because one time i got a log hide from an expo and when i was cleaning it i found a bug. am i just being dumb? i don't think she would want to burrow because she barely uses her hides but should she havethe option?

You can keep using paper towels and newspaper if you like, from my experience ball pythons won’t usually burrow :) However, giving them thicker substrate can be a form of enrichment if they decide to burrow. It is all up to you, but if you do give them substrate to burrow in I recommend using aspen :) It is easy to burrow in and won’t get in their nostrils like a lot of the ‘dirt’ substrate (like the stuff I use). Just be sure to give them a humidity hide because aspen has a little trouble holding humidity :)

so something dumb happened today. i took my ball out to clean her enclosure and there was this red line along her body. it was pressed in pretty deep and i thought she had hurt herself somehow and i was panicking SO HARD and i was googling a whole bunch of stuff but when i looked at it again it had faded a bit and then i realized that she had been sleeping against one of her hides and it caused the indent :/ it's completely gone now. just me being stupid.

Hahaha oh man I can’t tell you how many times I’ve done that. Especially with Leliana, who is pure white, she always looks like she got hurt but it goes away. It’s like when our socks indent in our leg skin :P No worries, I do the same!

thank you for the advice! i don't think Jellybean has a respiratory issue because her nose isn't mucus-y and she doesn't have any other signs. i think she was just being huffy because while she can be a sweetheart she can also be a little diva. especially since she's about to shed and i woke her up to give her that bath.

i have a beautiful two year old ball python named Jellybean that i have had for about six-seven months. she is my first snake and i had to give her a bath today because she decided that her poop was interesting enough to slither in. this was the first time i've ever given her a bath and i noticed that when i was doing it she exhaled hard twice. the water was about as high as the tip of my thumb and she seems perfectly fine but i'm worried water went up her nose and that might cause issues. help?

It is possible that the water got in her nose, but she should be fine :) She might have also huffed out of annoyance, since some snakes don’t like baths. Is this the first time she has done it? It is also possible that she came to you with an RI.

hey! love your blog :) so i just got my first snake yesterday and she's a bumblebee ball python named Jelly Bean. she explored when she first went into the tub and then eventually stopped. she felt a bit cold so i put her in the hide on the warm side but when i woke up she was back on the cool side. she hasn't gone into any of the hides and she has been in the same spot since at least 1:00pm. (part 1)

(part 2) also i had to take her out this morning because she made a mess in the cage. she wasn't too happy and she hissed at me but she didn't strike or anything. she also hissed at me earlier when i was checking the temps and accidentally touched her. i plan on feeding her next wednesday and actually handling her next friday. do you think she will be less fussy then? also is her not moving for that long normal?__________________Thanks! :) First of all, congrats on your new noodle! Love the name :) Now onto the questions:What are the temps in the cage? If the warm side is too warm she will move to the cold side and stay there. If the temps are right though, even if she feels cool to the touch, she is okay. Snakes know how to thermo regulate themselves properly :) She will explore more at night time, you might see her out once a day to swap hiding spots but that’s about all. Make sure you use the same type of hides for the main two, one on the warm side and one on the cool side, so she doesn’t have to choose between thermo regulation and a preferred hiding spot. After a week to settle in, she should be less fussy about everything. And it is normal for them to not move all day, sometimes they swap hides and other times they stay in the same spot. If you go to bed early, they might even be in the same exact spot you saw them the night before, even if they explored their cage at night. Hope I helped ease your mind a little :) Good luck!
