it was awful. her plan backfired, it took every ounce of magic and energy she had been harboring. magic siphoned from all around her, stored into a locket that was once her birth mothers and being saved for this particular time. only it didn’t work and she was knocked unconscious and put into a magic coma for the last week. while there she was tormented by the spirits of witches who hated salvatores and hated her for trying to mess with dark magics such as bringing the dead back to life, she only wanted to meet her father. with tears in her eyes she finally reached the door to gabes apartment and knocked lightly on it.

after everything that had been going on, including meeting gabe’s sister she wanted to do something for him. something to take his mind off of things, something just the two of them. that required a lot of thought and took her a few days before coming up with something worthy enough. magic meant she didn’t really need a key to his place, she just said a small chant and the door opened up and she let herself into his place. “up, up, up.” she said, sitting on the edge of his bed where he lay asleep. “i’ve got plans for us, something i think you’re going to like. i’ll go wait in the living room while you get dressed but i’m not taking no for an answer.” grace smiled softly, leaning in and placing a soft kiss against his forehead before exiting his bedroom.

grace was trying to learn more, understand everything she could. asking him was an option and she would, she would get around to that as they grew closer but she wanted to know where she came from and what her family was like –– not just her father but her uncle, grandparents, ancestors that died over the years. she sat on the floor with her fathers journals sprawled around her and looked up as she was scribbling things in her notebook and offered a soft smile to gabe as he sat with her, helping her just like he did before she died. “i know this isn’t exactly your idea of a fun night, but i promise the next evening we spend together? how we do that is entirely up to you. and i have blood bags in the fridge.” she had to, vampires were a part of her life. gabe, her father, caroline, her uncle.
