Rouge x Topaz? :3

Reason: The gift scene from Sonic X (JPN dub). In general: Them in the hit 2000s anime Sonic X (JPN/ENG dub).

To explain their dynamic- Rouge and Topaz fit the classic comedy trope of "Funny gal + Straight Gal". Rouge is the "funny" one, acting abnormally to the situation around her with comedic and flirty flair, whereas Topaz is the "straight" one, who treats everything as completely normal and reacts to Rouge's shenanigans in a very serious manner, thereby amplifying the comedy factor of it! At first they did this very unintentionally, but now that they're together Topaz enjoys enhancing Rouge's jokes and flirting by playing things straight.

(Now, they both have trouble being straight, so keep that in mind.)

They got together when Topaz snapped one day and said "alright, you win, your flirting has worked, want to go on a date?" which immediately caught Rouge unawares and she had to play it off like this was the plan the whole time (it wasn't).

the definition of hell was different to different people, emerald learns quickly. she doesn’t know what it means to her fellow thief. she doesn’t ask. he doesn’t tell.

he thinks she can’t see the way he acts sympathetic to the street urchins, lost in the underbelly of vale, no place a kid should be. he thinks she can’t see the way he stops and gives a begging child a moment of his time. he thinks she doesn’t see. she does.

she assumed part of it was because of neo. she never assumed it was because of his own past that he would now describe as hell to her. but he never goes beyond telling her about his past then just the words ‘it was hell.’

and again, she doesn’t press.

in time, she’d find out what his hell was. and in time, she’d find hers. for now, emerald was content just mocking and teasing the criminal mastermind. and roman was content with the same.

roman was akin to a candle, emerald mused, flicking the lighter in her hand on and off. 

candles didn't burn as brightly as infernos, were less grand than stars. but he certainly had the arrogance for one. what did cinder once say? "candles may burn, but do not forget how easily they can be snuffed out."

now, she has to admit, there is a single truth about them that cinder isn't willing to admit. candles can be relit. stars die slowly, fires turn to ashes, but candles don't die. they can be set alight again and again.

her red eyes turn down to look at the lighter. she still doesn't like him, though. but he is like her, a thief. and from one thief to another, she understood at least one aspect of him. he would do whatever it takes to survive. 

just like her.
