Any woman’s answer? No, we don’t need you. It’s not our duty. I have the say cause it’s my booty. And my pussy is not a prize.

Chi-Raq shows how powerful sex is in society despite race, but further more how it is a driving force in how our society is constructed. I would love to say that this film shows the extremes in sex as a prize or as a male “right”, but unfortunately, this is actually part of our reality of patriarchal culture. 

It is a powerful thing watching women united and using their sexuality to fight peacefully for peace. However, it also shows how women can still be overly sexualized in the male gaze. The women in the film seem to be seen by the men as objects to please their desires despite their fight for a cause like saving the children. Their cause is realized, but the way they are seen by the men in their lives has not shown much of a shift.

If it took that much fight to get two gangs to agree for peace, how much would it take for men to realize women are not their “bitches” or a “pussy prize”?
