NEW POST! 1 Easy Way All Allies Can Help Close the Gender and Racial Pay Gap “The National Labor Relations Act protects your right to discuss your salary with your coworkers. Your company cannot legally punish you (let alone fire you) for sharing that information. Thanks, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, patron saint of unions and hearthside radios!” Link in bio! #wagegap #paygap #workplaceequity #lillyledbetterfairpayact #career #paytransparency #paytransparencymatters #womendopersonalfinance #feminism #genderpaygap #racialpaygap https://www.instagram.com/p/CLKPuFEns9s/?igshid=rx0kvg18xqhr

#Repost @womenintheworld (@get_repost) ・・・ This year Latina Equal Pay Day –which marks how much longer Latinas must work to earn the same amount their white male counterparts earned the previous year- falls 18 days later than last year, and @evalongoria asked on CNBC, 'Is it me, or does it feel like we’re going backwards?' . Of all the Equal Pay Days –Asian-American, all women, African American Women and Native American Women- Latina Equal Pay Day comes last, with Latina women making 45.5% less than white men and 31% less than white women. . ‘Nearly 30% of Americans believe the pay gap exists in part because Latinas simply choose lower-paying jobs, implying that Latinas ourselves can be blamed for the gap... This presumption is utterly untrue. And the anti-immigrant rhetoric in our current political climate isn’t helping,’ writes Longoria Baston. . The star emphasized how important creating programs to support working mothers is in addressing the pay gap, saying, ‘There’s a vicious cycle at play for millions of working mothers: If they don’t have someone to watch their children, they can’t go into work. And yet in order to afford childcare, they have to go to work.’ . ‘It’s time to demand more for Latinas.’ . #LatinaEqualPayDay #GenderPayGap #PayGap . infographic inspiration
Most of those infographics focus solely on the Gender Pay Gap where as I want this only to be a part of my infographic. The Women in Tech was the first idea for my infographic, but why fix something that ain’t broken.
So with this in mind I want to start my infographic with the fact that 49,6% of the world population are women. And later portray that there is an inequality in how women are portrayed in our society. I want to mention the Suffragettes and when the first women were finally allowed to vote on the same rules as men. I feel it’s important to show how little female based startups get way less support from investors even though their businesses are doing better. I also want to include a timeline that show how the Gender Pay Gap is slowly decreasing. Other numbers I want to include are either that only 1in5 designers in the UK are women or that women consist only 20% of the workforce in STEM. I also want to show the benefit in numbers of having a women on the team in your business.
Stand up. Speak up. Rise up.
This is not a day to celebrate, but a day to rembere what we got and what we haven’t got yet. If we still use the word “bitch” to describe a woman who hasn’t a good behaviour, if sex-workers are still mistreated, if we still can’t go out at night and wear whatever we want, if someone still catcalls us, if rape isn’t a crime yet in some country, if we still are less paid than men. Because of all this discriminations and others, we can’t celebrate woman’s rights, because we haven’t the same rights as men. This is not equity. Until we won’t be equal to men, we will fight.
What can we do today? Today we can remember all women who died for us, who belived in a future where men and men would have the same right.
And I belived in that future as well.
