the truth about trans people

here to answer some crucial questions, i've gathered from numerous sites proof about transgender existence. by the end of this, if you still have any questions, feel free to ask me or research to find information on your own, if you feel as if that would benefit you better.

the first question, what is the difference between sex and gender. sex gets assigned at birth, and it refers to one's biological status as either male or female. it is associated primarily with physical attributes such as chromosomes, hormone prevalence, and external and internal anatomy. gender refers to the socially constructed roles, behaviors, activities, and characteristics society deems reasonable for a woman or male.

next question, have transgender people always exist? survey says, yes! trans persons have gotten documented in different societies from antiquity to today. but, gender roles varies from culture to culture.

a lot of people believe there are so many transgender people today, more than it should be. according to a study by williams institute did in june of 2016, there are 1.4 million people in the united states that are documented transgender, which leads to 0.6% of the population.

some people believe that being transgender is a mental disorder, but in fact, it is not. a psychological state is considered a mental disorder only if it causes significant distress or disability. but, according to apa, people who come out as transgender feel "as if a weight has been lifted off their shoulders," and feel "free from crippling anxiety."

the final question i'm going to be addressing tonight is if they are pretending to be for a trend. 0.08% of people who come out as transgender change their identity. also, according to a survey done by the human rights campaign, 67% of out transgender people get death threats online on a daily basis. another thing to keep in mind is that 53% of people who come out as transgender got diagnosed as transgender by a professional.

I wish I was a boy...

I wish I could tell people that im not Rebecca but Sydney... But as much as I know my friends will love me and accept me, I'm to scared to come out.... My mum doesn't understand and if I ever drop subtle hints about it she shouts at me telling me I'm not a boy but a girl... And my friend who was called martha until he came out as a Demi boy.... So I feel that if I come out then people will just think I'm coping him.... Ugh I just want to be comfortable in my own skin.....
